It was set in Venice, and I really liked this setting, as it felt fresh and had a new twist on the WW2 story I have read so often, but the story was not always convincing. I was disappointed by the modern-day plot, but as that was so much smaller, it didn’t bother me too much. I have read other books by this author that are much stronger, especially the series that she writes, and I did have to suspend my disbelief at times, but it was a good way to spend a few hours of quite light, easy reading that I didn’t need to think too much about.
