Councilors do not have a specific role, such as a designation for
education or justice, as they all govern together and make every
decision as a unified front. However, you may have your Councilor have
a specialized area of expertise. This allows for more backstory freedom,
as anyone can become a Councilor from any area of life as long as they
are voted in by the people of their city. No number has any significance
and they are all equals.

The Grimcroft family, while not nobles and not as well-known in
Voxthain as other families, have a base level of notoriety for their Secret
Society, or as most call it, their Coven. The Grimcroft women run the
Coven and invite in only women who carry their blood, no matter how
distant. They are known for their magic prowess and most of them are
highly intelligent and self-aware. Your claim does not need to carry the
Grimcroft name, but that is an option if you want them to have status in

All of the below roles are not specified because you can choose your
own character’s title and age in this family. The Stormvale family is
responsible for intercity relations and generally are the main source of
peace between the two cities. Their family is composed of many
different cousins, siblings, and different roles. They are not as structured
as the other noble families and therefore have no sense of order to the
family. The Stormvales are wanderers and travelers by nature, some
marrying in Asterath, some marrying off to Voxthain nobles. They go
where the fancy takes them, so if currently the family has a bunch of
youngsters and only one solid parental figure . . . well, that’s normal! But
if anyone else wants to claim a parental figure, that is cool too.
Everyone gets one claim in this family. We have also decided on a
naming convention that they will all follow. Any first name of your
choice, although we are leaning towards Spanish-fantasy theming as
they are similar to our world’s Latino descent. They have a second
name, or middle name if you’d prefer, that is a color. For example, Lucy
Gray, Maude Ivory, Tam Amber, or Clerk Carmine (and all of these are
two first names, but you can do first middle if you prefer).
Okay, new paragraph because I'm getting confused. Sister/brother/
cousin = teens to early 20s. siblings are siblings to each other
(obviously) but cousins do not necessarily have to be siblings. the uncle
can have as many siblings as is necessary, and anyone can claim any of
those people if they want

The fighting ring roles are mostly self-explanatory. The martial and
sword fighters, along with the sharpshooters, are all raw fighters and rely
on their own physical skill in their areas to win. Their mage counterparts
are similar, but they use magic to enhance their fighting. Less blood, but
sometimes more damage. If you make a claim and you want that
character to fight alone, you can do that. You can also have them pair up
with other fighters and do two-on-two battles. They do not have to both
be in the same division, nor do they have to always fight alongside that
person.

The Blacklights of Asterath are a quiet but known group of defenders and
protectors in Asterath. No identity is known publicly, but the group’s
existence is. Asterath has no police force or militia like Voxthain, so the
Blacklights formed their own group over the course of several years once
gang activity picked up. They are simple citizens, we are not doing double
agents, either. The Blacklights have a strict code against any sort of gang
affiliation—that includes “spying” or any association even for the good of
the Blacklights. They protect and defend, which means they avoid the
gangs.
The only members of the Blacklights that ever associate with the gangs
are the Swords who are sent out to exterminate gang members when
they become particularly problematic for specifically everyday citizens.
There are three Swords—one to handle exterminating specific members of
specific gangs when need calls for it. The Shields are spread out around
the city and keep watch, intervening when necessary and offering
resources and help to everyday citizens on ways to avoid the gangs as
well as help if they have already had a run-in.
The Blacklights are not there to kill all gang members, only to rid the city
of certain members who spiral out of control. They don’t target gang
leaders either. They want the normal citizens of Asterath to live peaceful
lives and without fear of gang violence, which they are achieving through
outward peace and internal violence.

remaining country untouched by shadowfog on the continent of Faerûn,

Yes, we have made two cats and a dog that will be
accompanying the squad on their thieving/murdering mission. Anyone
can use them in roleplay and mention them, as they are precious babies
that deserve all of the attention from everyone at all times.

To avoid this becoming a boarding school, where there are dorms and
such, please make your student part of another role as well. This means
part of a noble family, in an Asterath gang, or something like that. They do
not live at Cogworks, they go here daily as a normal school would
function. They can just be regular citizens of either city as well. Not
everyone has to be of noble lineage or in a gang. We just do not want
characters living at school or only existing as a person at Cogworks. They
have families or some other connections even if not a family. This group
is all about collaborations!
Your character can be part of any homeroom, as with a normal school,
this is decided at random. Being in the conjuration and history teacher’s
homeroom does not mean your character is a conjurer or a history nerd.
This is mostly for aesthetic and organizational purposes.
