CHARACTER ⠀GUIDE

Hello! Welcome to the character guide. This is a short but specifically
designated topic to help everyone with characters and histories if you’re
struggling, as this is an original group with no book knowledge to rely on.

𝟬𝟬𝟭⠀There is magic in this world. What this means is that your character
can have limitless backstories and life events. There are no stipulations
for what you can add, as long as it lines up with the world we’ve built as
a whole. This world has been greatly explained in the informational topics.

𝟬𝟬𝟮⠀We can see there being some confusion with the Runalithe squad
and those characters, but they are also easy to write backstories for.
Their country is the last remaining area of their continent of Faerûn
unaffected by the shadowfog, which has been spreading over the last
twenty years. So, if your character is twenty-four, they’d have
four years of their life being normal before complications with the
shadowfog arose. Maybe they had to flee their country and that’s a major
part of their history, or maybe they were raised in Runalithe and never
had to deal with the shadowfog until very recently when their country
realized they were all that was left of Faerûn. Still, the creative freedom is
there! You don’t even have to get wildly specific—just give us enough to
work with so we can learn about your character!

𝟬𝟬𝟯⠀To reiterate, magic means characters can have modifications and
unique appearances, histories, and personalities. Follow the
world-building but go explore some creativity and cool new ideas you
might not be able to flex elsewhere! As always, do feel free to ask
   questions!
It is not a bother and we’d love to help you make
   awesome characters!

𝟬𝟬𝟰⠀Keep your character's magical abilities within reason. If they are in
their twenties, they have only had enough time in their life to master one
or two fields of magic. Older characters can have gone the path of jack
of all trades, master of none or truly honed their craft in a more limited
range of magic, making them more powerful in that field. Also, give
different characters different levels of magical potential. Some characters
will have more latent ability than others, giving you room to hone
nonmagical skills to give your characters an edge.
