As I mention in my mountain topic, every year I plan to read only from my own stacks in an effort to get my owned TBR piles under control. And every year I get distracted by library books that I've always wanted to read or a book that a friend tells me is fantastic. So--I'm going to reward myself with a mountain climb and hope that I don't get too distracted from Mount Everest over in the Mount TBR Challenge...Although, being a Star Trek fan, it would be nice to reach Mount Seleya just once.

Please take a moment to introduce yourself to the group.

Brenda Klaassen (librarymom23) | 14 comments Greetings from the MidWest, U.S.A. Thank you, Bev, for the invite. I did do one of the mountains in the original Mt. TBR, but then I became a full-time public librarian. This group should fit a little bit better with my current situation.

Welcome to the virtual mountain slopes! Hope you enjoy climbing with us here in the lands of imagination.

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) | 13 comments Back for another year climbing virtual mountains! So far I've managed to tone down my not-owned books reads and in 2024 focused on finishing series I had pending. 2025 will be much of the same, and I want to give myself room to read a few new releases or new series I want to start, so I'll try climbing Rum Doodle or even visit Mr Grinch again. Let's see!

Margaret (grandmommyd) | 11 comments I'm Margaret, and I definitely am a readaholic. I've already committed on the Mt. TBR challenge to clear 100 books from my physical shelved, but I know the library will still call my name. I'm not sure how high I'll let myself go here, depends on how diligent I am to stay on track with the physical books on my shelves. I'll decide soon and start a topic for my list.

Pamela | 39 comments Hello everyone, I did great in 2024 in focusing on reading my own books but still managed a small pile of unowned books as well.
Ideally that would be how 2025 will go, we shall see!

I do have several books checked out I really should read, and I have a small list of NetGalley books...so I might be climbing some peaks here.

Happy reading to all!

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 19 comments Hi everyone, I'm Rachael. Several times Mount TBR climber, first time doing the Virtual Mount TBR challenge. I want to read more library loans and Netgalley approvals so am going to set my goal at 24 (2 books a month)

Steven (wyldemusick) | 20 comments Hi, Steven (aka David Alexander McDonald) here...and I guess I'm back. We'll see.

I came up just short of the goal last year, though admittedly that *was* a second stage after completing the first I set. I was inexorably dragged back into my musical existence, which has been taking up lots of my time and energy, and this was on top of this year's dance with the medical world (though landing up in hospital for a couple of days helped a bit with the reading!)

Let's see what I do....

Welcome back to veteran climbers and a big Welcome to those trying the virtual slopes for the first time! Hope we all have a great reading year!

Rachella | 2 comments Hello!
I did this challenge last year on my own and stopped at 48 books. I'd like to climb higher this year... Maybe the 100 book level?
I did want to ask as I can't find anything stating I can't. Am I able to use NetGalley ARCs requested after 12/31 or books from KU (subscription based but have a check in/out rule)?
Thanks.
