Ri (anergia) | 176 comments I’m trying to slowly read The Scattered Bones by Nicole Scarano right now. I don’t want it to end aaaah it’s a standalone. It’s dark romance fantasy/romantasy. Then, I wanna read my newly acquired copy of Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan. I mostly read romance — a variety of pairings, not just m/f.

Add me if you’d like. (:

Tysm, added you back.

But yeah omg, usually I'm like "hmm okay" when the girl is a virgin, but it makes sense with the plot and world/society they're in. Also, the girl and guy main characters both have dark hair(!), not super common in m/f romance. I remember growing up, I'd read books where if one of them has brown or red hair, the other has to have blond(e), etc., like what about if they're both blond(e), both brunet(tte), redhead, that's okay too. . .

It's also dual timeline, but not in an annoying or confusing way imo.

Jeanmarie ʚɞ | 20 comments Yes that complete makes sense, I know what you mean. It is rare when they mention black hair characters :’)
I’m intrigued

I had to re-read the physical appearance description about her multiple times, I was so surprised in a good way lol.

Now I understand what one review about the book was talking about, how the book could've been longer. The worldbuilding, idk, I want to know more about the other characters and their lives too. The main character has siblings and I'm like hmm, so, what are they up to??? Because sis is out here on a quest, dangggg.

message 8: by Jeanmarie (new)

Jeanmarie ʚɞ | 20 comments Lmaooo, I felt that. I read a book that had me feeling that way so I get it

Which book was it? ACOTAR or another one? :3

Also yeah, I'm glad there's this site so I can talk to you & other readers. Because IRL I tried talking about a different book's plot to two people and then one of them was like "are you talking about a movie?" because it did sound like a movie or soap opera plot.

And I had to repeat myself that it was a book. The person who asked is not a reader, so it was kinda awkward, they probably would've been interested if it was a movie instead since the plot had themes of what they like to watch lol.

I've been wanting to read it but I put it off for so long for the simple fact that I wasn't sure whether I liked fantasy or not but after reading Acotar it has become my new obsession

Ri (anergia) | 176 comments It's one of the best things ever, finding a book that introduces you to a genre, trope, etc. I've had that happen and it's so cool. Then there's more to read and enjoy! Big win. Downside is that sometimes I end up comparing that first book to the ones that follow like alright the standards have been set. Sooo where are the otherssssss lol my TBR will outlive me. :P

Hailey Miller | 30 comments Just started getting back into reading and looking for new friends! I add back!

message 35: by Vivienne (new)

Vivienne I would recommend Akarnae if you're into YA fantasy. It's super underrated but one of my favourite series ever. It's by an Australian author which is why it's not very well known, but totally worth the read. That author also wrote a more sci-fi duology, which I also recommend, they're called Whisper and Weapon

The Folk of the Air (The Cruel Prince) is also a great trilogy that I 10/10 recommend.

Shatter Me is pretty good, but I think it's a little overhyped.

Shadow and Bone, and Six of Crows is good, but I found the protag of Shadow and Bone really annoying so I would stick to Six of Crows.

The Infernal Devices is a great trilogy as well, especially if you love reading about faeries, demons, and angels.

I have so many more recs but I don't want this to be a million pages long x
