Sanya was born in a small town in New Jersey to an Indian-American family. Her mother, a history professor, often shared stories of ancient Greece and the myths surrounding the gods, which instilled in Sanya a fascination with the world of mythology. Little did she know that she was destined to become a part of that world.

At the age of 15, Sanya discovered her true identity as a demigod when strange occurrences began to happen around her, and monsters started to chase her. It was during one of these encounters that she was rescued by a satyr, who took her to Camp Half-Blood. There, she learned that she is the daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare.

Sanya quickly adapted to her new life at camp, showing an exceptional aptitude for strategy and combat, reminiscent of her mother’s legendary intellect. However, she wrestles with the expectations that come with her lineage. Sanya is determined to prove herself worthy of being Athena's daughter, a task that drives her to train relentlessly and excel in her studies.

Alongside her training, Sanya embraces her Indian heritage, often incorporating elements of her culture into her life at camp. She uses her resourcefulness to blend traditional Indian teachings with the strategic combat training of Camp Half-Blood. This unique perspective allows her to approach challenges in innovative ways, earning her respect among her peers.

Sanya's strong sense of justice motivates her to stand up for her friends and fight against any injustice she witnesses, whether it be among the campers or the larger world of gods and monsters. While she often takes on a serious demeanor, especially during training or battles, she cherishes the moments spent with her close friends, where her playful side can shine through.

As she navigates the complexities of her dual identity, Sanya remains focused on her goals: to honour her heritage, protect her friends, and become a formidable warrior worthy of her mother’s legacy.
