Welcome to the Spectacular Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on December 10th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Is..
Pure magic?!
Omg I love all the details and illustrations and everything and I will probably bake cookies at the end haha!

Chapter 1-4:
Well… Why did I believe Tella would maybe be a little less selfish this time…. Asking Scar to change the date of the Great Holiday just because she hasn’t the perfect gift for Legend. Typical Tella move *lol*.
But besides that I love the whole Christmas vibe and all the cute details like street names, decor, ice sculptures. Now is just the perfect month to read this book. Didn’t even know it plays around Christmas time when I chose this as a read.

Chapter 5-8:

Up to now it’s really a quick read, so I‘m intrigued to probably read ahead a little bit. I‘m eager to find out who Tellas real love is, definitely hope it’s Legend of course. It might have been a trap though, not sure if the toy boy is trustworthy. I also hope we get a little bit more of Scar and Julian - my favorites - in this book. The author tends to over focus on Tella on my opinion.
Also wonder how the whole Christmas magic works and who’s creating it, as Scar doesn’t have any magic and Legend doesn’t seem to be involved in this sort of magic.... (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1-15:

Wow I had clearly forgotten how much I loved the Caraval books because every chapter feels like a magical treat that I can't have enough of.
I am loving Scarlett and Julian. They are so adorable, like always.
Donatella and Legend on the other hand, are still mysterious and I'm getting some dark satisfaction at finding out that their games will never really end if this is how it is.

Yes, now I'm wishing I had waited till Christmas eve to read it. Ah. So adorably magical and comforting.

Haha yes. The author does overfocus on Donatella. Guess writers too play favorites with their character babies lol.

Tella's little book of advice is reminding me of the facebook posts that popped up on my feed when I was a teenager lol. They're so cliche and bad and yet, I understand how they can make a girl doubt herself and everything to do with love.

And just like that, I'm finished reading this little bundle of absolute magical joy and mischief. I loved it and might just reread it on Christmas eve. It was just the airy breezy light read, full of love and hope and adventure that I needed when real life is all about kicking my bottom with lots of work and deadlines and mundane stuff that never seems to end. *sigh*

Finished it as well. Quick, easy and absolutely magical read. Absolutely loved it. Like @Anushka said easy, breezy light read, perfect for the holiday season.

Hey! I'm not on pace (life has been crazy these last days) but I will catch up soon because it's so quick to read. Seeing that you both finished, I'm free of pressure to catch up haha

I'm kinda sad that the mc of the story is Tella because I really didn't like her and Legens relationship (I really forgot everything from the second book lol). And I'm kinda bored of chapter 6 that can shorten as Kiss the legend or something like that.

Did you see that the book authors surname is Loveless? Lol

Haha yeah Tella taking love advice from Loveless. The irony, lol.

Also, take it slow Bopeep. I'd suggest make it your Christmas Eve read. It would be so fitting, haha.

I'm finished!

Ive never liked Tella and Legends relationship, so I didn't really like the plot. Also romanticize a kidnap is not good :/ I was having the icks when the kidnapper touches Tella.

On the other hand, Julian and Scarlet are cute as always ❤️ and I loved the images and little magical thing of this book. I just wanted a bit more of Scarlet and Julian haha
