The second in the series, with an audiobook also narrated by Tim Curry. This adventure finds the orphans at a distant cousin's home. They refer to him as Uncle Monty, and he has a passion for the discovery and care of rare reptiles. Since this hobby offers the children access to reading and creativity, they are quite happy in this environment until the sneaky Count Olaf appears and makes their lives miserable yet again.
I really liked Uncle Monty despite not relating at all to his reptile fascination, and even though I knew his long term outlook wasn't great given the nature of this series, I still found myself rooting for him. Another fun storytelling by Tim Curry who manages to make it sound exactly that- like he's telling a story rather than reading us one.
