I read a lot of Victoria Holt when I was a teen. And that cover - ohhh - that would have been a huge draw. Who knows, I may have read the book. I should read it for a nostalgic sake.

Just checked audible's sale and it's on the $2.79 and the narration sounds good. My shopping cart is filling up between the toppler and people's challenge reports. It's a dangerous job.

Her name crops up a lot while gophering. I've not read her before so since GOTHIC appeals to me, I thought to give her a try.

I was 34 years old before I started reading for pleasure. I feel as though I missed out on books for younger readers. Many of them are immature for my old age. This Holt book held my attention. I may try some more.

She sure was prolific. Have you a favorite?

I actually only rated it 2 stars. Like you I was attracted to the beautiful cover. I thought exploration of personal lifecode contradictions appealing. It seems to me those who engage in "the oldest profession" are well suited to question their life choices. However, I was most often just confused..
