What prompt was that? Bc none of them equal 30 points.
It would only equal 30 if it wasn’t any of the reindeer prompts in which case a review isn’t necessary

I don’t love Jennifer’s writing style or her characters super much. The story was very interesting but it felt unrealistic. I don’t like how she always has the FMC sooo much smarter than the MMC, to the point that the MMC is always relying on the FMC. I also don’t like how easy this book made it appear to trick the Russians, it just felt unrealistic. But I did enjoy the story itself.

When that happened with a book I read, I picked the first book in the list that made sense. For instance, I skipped a book that was listed as "International" and went to the first English hardback or paperback.

Okay, I guess I'll pick one like that then. :) I should be finished with it tomorrow probably.

20 points (Rudolph) (most of the covers feature knights with red crosses on their tabards, some feature the burning castle)
I have read Ivanhoe multiple times. It's a fun story that I like to revisit. It's the story of a disinherited knight who has come home from the crusades. Through his kindness to a Jew, an outcast at the time, he makes an ally who serves to help him later. King Richard and Robin Hood feature as well. There's romance, chivalry, and the rescue of a maiden from certain death by being burnt at the stake.

The New Testament (Comet: 20)
Ummm… review? 😂 how do you review the Bible? lol.
So good! This time through I listened pretty fast so I got a great overview, that’s one of the reasons I like listening to it. It pulls out and looks at the big picture.
On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness (Donner 15)
This was a reread. I cannot say how much I LOVED this book this time through! I love jumping back into this world and discovering the plot twists again. There were so many “aha! I know what’s coming” moments for me!

I love listening to big chunks of the Bible at one time. :) It really does give you a good picture of what is going on that way. I always tell my kids sometimes you sip it like hot coffee and you just get a little bit at a time and taste that. Other times you gulp it like cold water on a hot day and you taste the whole gulp all at once. :) I honestly think both ways are needed to get a good understanding.
Yeah I listened through the Bible this last summer and listening through the Old Testament was incredible! It gave me such a birds eye view of the whole story instead of focusing in and getting bogged down by the small details.

Book: Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

Review: I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying this series. The characters are really growing on me and as the series has continued I feel like you learn more about them. To me they all have this perfect balance of being flawed but lovable. This book did hit heavy for me towards the end because the FMC does experience something traumatic, so please check for triggers. But I’m excited to see how she overcomes that and continues to be the strong character I’ve grown to enjoy.

Book: Genesis by Brendan Reichs
Prompt: Rudolph
Review: Geesh! This series is a rollercoaster ride that you can’t get off. It started out looking great and seemed like it would be fun. But while waiting in line you’ve started to question why you decided it was a good idea (continuing this series since you didn’t love the first book) especially since you know you get motion sickness, but you’ve told yourself you are committed to the idea. And as you take your seat the second guessing gets worse (as you start to really get into the book), but right as you start to flag an attendant the ride starts and it’s too late to get off. This is me I’m locked in and I can’t get off the ride - just one more book. One more rollercoaster drop and the ride with be done. 🙌🏻
Not a clue if this counts as a review lol

This was such a quick read. I went into it knowing nothing other than "the author of Sherlock Holmes wrote it and there's dinosaurs." It had some twists and turns--a few unexpected and I few I foresaw. It wasn't too bad for it's day. There was plenty of action and surprise.

Emberling is a story about prejudice and about not making assumptions about a whole people based on the actions of a few. It has Christian themes. The "magic" in the story is a gift of Elohim to aid the people in defending themselves from the dangerous forest creatures.
It was fast-paced and hard to put down. There was plenty of action, elements of sweet romance, and deep friendships.
I enjoyed it greatly and look forward to reading more by the author. My twelve year old daughter has added this to her "absolute favorites" list and my older teens enjoyed it as well.

This was a fun, albeit predictable, Princess Diaries meets Imperial Japan. With curse words of every variety and some thick feministic themes, its more mature than the Disney adaptation, but I still found the clean love story one to root for, and the father figure admirable even through his faults. Would read again.
