Maureen Anderson | 8 comments So I have managed 25 books previously so thought I'd try 30 (I secretly fancy 35 books but want to succeed ha ha).

I have joined my local library book club of which there are two. Ones more magazine articles and discussion. The other just started reading the classics which is a genre I really don't delve into. So I am looking forward to that. So of 30 books at least 12 will be the classics.
I also decided to gift the same Christmas book to 4 of my friends and asked each for their favourite author. So I will read a book from each of those authors.
This would take my total to 17 add in my favourite author that's 18. Then an autobiography and a biography. That leaves only 10 books to find.

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Great goals, Maureen! I love the way you asked your friends for recommendations. That's such a good idea. 😊

Classics are also something I struggle to motivate myself to get to every year. Buddy reads are really my saving grace to get any of those read. Otherwise, I'd just get stuck in the "I want to read more classics"-planning step 😅. I definitely recommend checking out our Buddy Reads section if you ever want to expand your goal of reading and discussing more classics to Goodreads.

I'll be curious to see what classics you'll be reading in 2025, and also what the remaining ten books will be.
Wishing you all the best on your reading adventure in the upcoming year.
Have fun, and happy reading!

Hi! I'm like you, I like to have an achievable goal, you can always bump it up later in the year!

Classics is one of my favourite genres, you can find any kind of books in the classics : love stories, war stories, funny stories, stories that makes you cry, books about friends, about families (and their many dysfuntions), .... Just pick your favourtie contemporary genre and pick an "adjacent" classic book.

Happy reading!

JennH | 919 comments Hi Maureen! Looks you're making great progress on your goal! Hope you have been reading many fantastic books so far this year and have discovered some new favorite authors through your friends.

I love the library and library books clubs. Sadly I haven't been able to participate in a while. I hope to be able to change that soon. Hope you have been enjoying some pleasant reading with your book clubs! Happy reading!
