Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 203 comments Let's say I make a guess and keep reading. The guess turns out to be correct. Can I use the books I read after my guess for the next word?

Example:
I guess the word abcdefgh.
I read Terrarium Buddies.
Donna cofirms abcdefgh is the word and gives us a new first letter T.

Can I use Terrarium from Terrarium Buddies for this new word that starts with T?

D.L. | 1453 comments Do we get an extra guess after every third book, even if a new word has been posted? If the last word was guessed using 2 books, and A new word is posted, do I still get to use an extra guess after I post a third completion post, or do I start fresh like it's a new round?

I hope that makes sense lol

Of course, the letters will still help your towards guessing the correct word.

Yes, you still get your free guess. You may also choose to hold on to it and use it later. A couple of people have chosen to do that because they weren't ready to use it. You still have to use the word from your 3rd book title. Not sure why all of a sudden people are submitting a 3rd book and posting "no word chosen". Then they try to submit a free guess. I am refusing all free guesses until those words are chosen.

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 203 comments Two questions:
1. Can we read children's books? I just finished reading a middle-grade book to my granddaughter that was 352pp. The type was a little larger (not a lot) and there was more white space but it was definitely over 100 pages of text.

2. I read it the first week of January and forgot to ask about it. I've read other books since then. Is it too late to use a past book if it otherwise fits the rules?

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 203 comments Sorry, one more question. If we guess a word with two or more of a letter in it, let's say coca-cola, and you only have one O colored, does that mean that there is only one O is our word?

Our minimum is 140 pages. That being said, middle grade is a gray area because it is between a kid's book and YA. To allow these books, we typically send you to ArBookfind to find out the word count. If the word count is over 35,000, then you should be okay.

US ArBookfind: https://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.a...

UK & Ireland ARBookFind : https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/UserType...

It is still January. correct? As far as I know, I didn't time travel and end up in another month.

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 203 comments Thank you for all the answers, Donna. Yes, it's still January, LOL. My question was whether we could to claim them out of order of reading. I'm thinking then that it's a yes. :)

Upton | 243 comments Hey Donna,

I posted a book on the 13th and DL posted a book on the 14th and we haven't had a response. I know you are a busy person, so I am just checking in on the chance you aren't receiving notifications. :) Thanks!

RachelG. | 253 comments Hi Donna,

I think that Brooke's guess came in about the same time you were posting an update to our thread and we wanted to see if Brooke was correct before we made more guesses. I will post the link to her book completion here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Thanks!

I'm sorry. I meant to check a 2nd time on Monday and then got distracted. Then today was full of family drama. I am about to start going through threads. Give me a few minutes to do the other threads first and then I will focus solely on Lingo threads.

D.L. | 1453 comments Donna, hi, sorry to bother you but I am a little confused. Christine and I have, I believe, nine letters when we're only supposed to have 8. It begins with G, right? But we also have these letters in green and yellow making 9 letters

N, E, S, M, O, A, C, I

Help please :)

I've just seen your post about what has been going on in RL - I am really sorry. There is no rush :)

Brooke ♥booklife4life♥ (booklife4life) | 114 comments i read 76% of a 288pg book in the month of Jan, then finished it yesterday, am i allowed to use it for this month's lingo? i know some groups have a 50% rule or other rules about books in between months, so just asking to make sure one way or the other.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 3146 comments Mod
Finish date counts here. I don’t care about 50% crap. I don’t count how many pages I read per day and I don’t expect you to either.
