~ Monthly Audiobook Challenge ~

Each month we will have a different theme of audiobook for you to listen to.
Read one, two, three, or thirty. Up to you! Just post at the start of the month which books you will read in the category, update through the month and post a link to your Goodreads review (no links to external sites).

Let's find some great audiobooks together!

Duration: Monthly

January 2025 Theme:

◈It's like three books in one
Audiobooks that are 25 hours or more in length

How to Participate:

The Audiobook Challenge is designed to not only help you to read your audiobooks, but to also find out about other great audiobooks from other challenge participants!

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the Audiobook Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

There are no minimum page requirements, and you can read abridged or unabridged audiobooks!

1. At the beginning of the month, post :
a: How many audiobooks in total you want to read for the month
b: How many audiobooks in the monthly category you want to read
c: Post the audiobooks (as you decide on them) by linking them to Goodreads in your post

2. During the month, read the audiobooks that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s) - note: can only be linked to Goodreads and not an external site
c: How many audiobooks you have read for this challenge this year

Then start a new post for the next month!

Interesting.
My sister would never read audiobooks which I didn’t understand as she is a huge podcast listener. She finally read one when they became available on Spotify and now she reads them all the time. So I can definitely see that Spotify would have a big impact on the market for people that didn’t think about audiobooks before or didn’t want to pay for another (audible) subscription

Compared to others fantasy retellings from that era, this one was one of the better written historical fantasy retelling. This is dark with the inclusion of graphic sexual assault scene.

MY MONTHLY RECOMMENDATION (and why):
Mrs. Sherlock Holmes The True Story of New York City's Greatest Female Detective and the 1917 Missing Girl Case That Captivated a Nation by Brad Ricca : Though this one took a while to understand where the story was heading, I initially thought that it would focus on Ruth Kruger, this is more about Grace Humiston and her fight for justice for the poorer residents in New York. But the level of corruption she encountered is dizzying. Gripping read about the greed and corruption in New York and the woman who was both lawyer and detective.

Melindam | 8304 comments Just got 2024 stats from Audible. 😊

In 2024 I listened to 713 hours and 5 minutes and listened to 119 titles.

My Top Month was June with 95 hours and 33 minutes and that has also been my highest listening time in a month ever since I have been using Audible.

My most listened to author was Dorothy Dunnett (95 hours) and narrator (for Dorothy Dunnett) was John Banks (79 hours).

I finished
The Running Grave (Cormoran Strike, #7) by Robert Galbraith
which was just over 34 hours.

Tough subject matter but I love the development of Cormoran and Robin.

I have about 23 hours left of Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive, #3) by Brandon Sanderson (is 55hrs) and I am going back and forth between the audio and the kindle. Unfortunatey I had to buy them both at usual $ unlike most kindle books where you can add on the audio for a few dollars. But I think price per page is probably still better value than most books. haha. Hopefully Sanderson gets a fair amount for his work
