Laura ☾ | 873 comments Thanks all!

@Brianna I read a lot - I do usually try to finish series up to the latest book released when I start one and then just continue when the next instalments come out

I'm also curious on what you thought of Onyx Storm?

✨ Brianna Raquel ✨ | 184 comments You're the perfect person to ask about popular dragon books. Do you have any recs?

I appreciate that you are probably asking Laura here but I've done a couple of blog posts recommending dragon books. These are the ones I recommend a lot:

Firelight (Firelight, #1) by Sophie Jordan Frozen (Heart of Dread, #1) by Melissa de la Cruz The Priory of the Orange Tree (The Roots of Chaos, #1) by Samantha Shannon The Last Namsara (Iskari, #1) by Kristen Ciccarelli Talon (Talon, #1) by Julie Kagawa Forged by Magic (Falling for Fables, #1) by Jenna Wolfhart

I have a lot on my TBR too

Laura ☾ | 873 comments Just catching up on these!

Onyx Storm - honestly it was a mess... I think I'm done with the series

Heavenly Tyrant was actually quite good! It went a direction I wasn't quite expecting

@Brianna I second Kayleigh's picks! And also I did quite enjoy When the Moon Hatched although the first 100 pages or so were very clunky..

My facourite of January may actually have been Remarkably Bright Creatures although I don't usually read much contemporary!

I agree Onyx Storm was a bit of a mess. Should've been so much better. Fair that you think you're done with it. I'll see how I feel about it when the next one comes out.

Yay! So happy to hear about Heavenly Tyrant!

Wow Remarkably must be good then!

Iron & Embers sounds good how was it? Im excited to read Four Ruined Realms, what did you think of it? Oh and Breath of the Dragon is on my tbr, worth it?

@Brittany in response to your previous message (I feel Goodreads doesn't always give me notifications properly sorry) .

Iron and Embers was quite enjoyable - I love all of the Thezmarr books!

Four Ruined Realms for me lacked a bit of the spark of the first book but I still likely it.

Breath of the Dragon was a really good more classic high fantasy!

message 21: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
No worries, yeah the notifications aren't great. Good to hear about Breath of the Dragon!

What are the March favourites?
How was Under Loch and Key? I still think this looks like a cute romance.

message 22: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments Mach round-up looks interesting, what do you think of Blood Over Bright Haven and The Shadow Bride?

message 23: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 873 comments March favourites probably were an Unkindness of Magicians and Blood over Bright Haven!

Under Loch and Key was alright - nothing special IMO.

Shadow bride was entertaining but not as good as the first book!

message 24: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6451 comments Mod
Too bad Under Loch and Key wasn't anything special

Happy to hear Blood Over Bright Haven was so good though!

✨ Brianna Raquel ✨ | 184 comments How was Don't Let Him In? I've been back and forth about adding it to my tbr

Any standouts this month Laura?
How was Terror at the Gates? It sounds good. I havent gotten Three Shattered Souls yet but I cannot wait to read that one.

message 28: by Laura ☾ (last edited Aug 04, 2025 07:55PM) (new)

Laura ☾ | 873 comments @Brianna don’t let him in was dreadful - don’t do it. The women in it had zero sense.

@Brittany Terror at The Gates was a decent start but will need to see where the next books go to form a full opinion.

I really enjoyed Three Shattered souls.

Standouts for the month were probably that and Isles of the Emberdark!

✨ Brianna Raquel ✨ | 184 comments Oh no! I loved her thrillers when I started reading again in 2022, so I was excited. I HATE when the MCs don't have common sense.
