Booknblues | 12091 comments Please use this thread to sign-up for The Compass.
Leave your name, starting location and goal if you currently have one in mind.

Remember you have until January 1 to state your goal, so you will be able to change it up until that point.

Voyagers:
Theresa-NYC
Goal: Solving crimes in every location at every compass point spin received.

Jen K - Washington DC
Goal: TBD

Joanne - Clarkston, Michigan
Goal: TBD

Holly - Ohio
Goal: To explore the places I visit through their languages, food, music, art and historic landmarks. As I'm traveling virtually, I'll try to enhance my reading by experiencing these through the internet. Whenever possible, I'll dine at a local (to me) restaurant that has the cuisine of the country I'm reading about. What fun! My goal is to look up two of these cultural thumb-prints for each book.

Amy and Sparkle -Boston, MA
Goal: We see ourselves as Windblown Kind of Gals. We are happy to go where the Randomizer wants to take us. Our goal is enjoyment and seeking light, and sometimes company for the celestial flight.

Rachel N with Astra and Laerke, twin sister polar bears - Detroit, MI
Goal: windblown while trying to mainly read from mount tbr

Olivermagnus (Lynda) -Phoenix, Arizona
Goal: Crime/Suspense in as many locations as possible.

Jason Oliver -Georgia
Goal: Only read books from "100 Best Inspirational Books that Will Make You Want to Travel the World" article.

Joy D - Reno, Nevada
Goal: Read at least 12 books from 12 different countries

Nancy J - Buffalo, NY
Goal: to read meaningful books that may broaden my view of the world. These might include books about culture, social issues, politics, environment, indigenous peoples, immigration, migration, hot spots, espionage, travel, or “slice of life” books. Also seek variety in continents, genres, and time settings or pub-dates. Supplement each read with an article of interest

Ellen - San Antonio, TX
Goal: Travel the United States

Name: Sue - Phoenix, Arizona
Goal: Travel only to places I've never personally visited

Linda C- Webster, NY
Goal: Read books set in 12 different countries-minimum
Secondary Goals: Read from books on TBR pile; Read books by author from that country

Jen M - California
Goal: windblown but focusing on physical books on my TBR

Cora R - Maryland
Goal: To visit with distinct interesting people in each country I visit

Michelle H - Tennessee
Goal: travel the world reading about women in sports

Joi - Oregon
Goal: Curate potential vacation ideas and inspiration (food, culture, hot spots, hidden gems, unique things about each location & visit, ect..)
Secondary Goal; Going back to basics here- review all books.

Sabrina- Ohio
Goal: Learn more about the various cultures, food, music, art, indigenous cultures, of the places I travel

Saorse (might know me as Care) - Talkeetna, Alaska
Goal: Read some good local history

Sushicat - Basel (Switzerland)

I did the reverse cruise a couple decades ago - - it gave plenty of down time - but we all found ourselves watching the shore for hours on end, especially closer to Luxor, as you just knew it was unchanged for thousands of years. People still fishing with nets from small boats, women doing laundry in the Nile though with galvanized tubs rather than ones of reed. And on. We knew we were close to Aswan as roads and power lines started to appear along the Nile. You will get to watch them disappear. We made only 2 stops along that route for archeological sites which were a lovely break from the ship. And we went through a lock system in the middle of the night-- couldn't see much but we did look out from our cabin onto it.

Have a wonderful time!

I have a list of about 35 books which will grow, I am sure. When I started compiling the list, I realized the location could be harder to pin down. Most travel and participate in sports worldwide or are part of a team from different places.

I am changing my starting point to Tennessee
