@Skye, my post to Ashley https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I'll do as many of the reviews as I can. - typing doesn't seem to have the same soporific effect as reading.

It does this from time to time and it's very annoying. If you sign out and back in on all devices, it should fix it.

Don't worry! I also didn't finish my last book. I blame the Amazing Race for putting me behind this month.
Just worry about taking care of yourself, and hopefully your body will adjust over time :)

I've gotta put a dent in SH. But I'll be screaming for a break by next week. I'll be needing some non-explicit books to cleanse the pallet.

I've only got 1 MM book planned this month. J is hard 😅
🎉 Q3 MINI-CHALLENGE: BOOK TITLE CHALLENGE
Starting July 1, earn 10 points per book by reading titles that begin with the same letter as your first name (e.g., “Matilda” for Michael). Unlimited entries—as long as the books fit this month’s tasks!

Read a translated book or one originally written in another language.
Is the only option a book that was written in a llanguage other than our own.
Or does translated book, mean a book that is published in multiple languages?
If I read a book oringinally published in english (my language), but it's also published in 2 other languages, does that count?
sorry, it's the OR that's tripping me up.
my other thought is read a book that's not translated, and not in my language?

That was pretty tough.
I really hope I'm wrong about the translated book.
but i did find 1 book I own that was originated in another language.
but it does not start with an S.
I bought a bunch of the books for my mother.
Who can resist a series titled "Harry Hole"?
He's a detective. He pronouces it Holee. But I don't care. His name is Harry Hole.
Celebration of joy was hard for me. I hope my reason is enough to qualify.
But I'm looking foward to some of thse.
Hello Saga Scouts! Here are the books I'm reading for August. I did not pay attention to the Travel/Adventure Tag, but this includes those i'm reading for other challenges too. Would BR any of these if you are interested. Lots of M's....

That category has to be a book that was originally written in a language other than your own. Only option.
The only one I could find that I already own is
The Bat
What is everyone else thinking for that category. I'm not going to be able to match it up with an S title, so maybe I can match up and buddy read with someone.

I'll BR with you on that one. I can get it on Kobo using my Super Points, too.

I wouldn't mind reading Matrimonial Merriment again as a BR.
OK I'll request it when we request the rest of our for the month. I love that series. I'm reading #8 right now.

I'll be away from home most of today, but I'll check it out and see if I can get it...probably just copy you for the category.

actually has to be main page genre right?
My book for Read a translated book or one originally written in another language.
The MC travels to Australia to solve a murder and the whole book is set there....then he goes home to his own country.

If I don't get to crazy at work this week I'll give it a try.
I got scared when I saw historical, but it's 1980, so I could handle that. Plus it's an S book.

I'm also hoping the whole Exiled Heir trilogy with fit. (I know book 1 does). I already had plans to buddy read book 2 and 3 with Amanda.

Yes, that was my intention, too.

I've requested a buddy read thread. I know Ashley went on holiday today so hopefully it's not too late

I've read book 1, but I might be down to buddy read book 2 and 3

As soon as I finish off my last couple books, I'm gonna take a short break so that I'm ready for the 1st.

But I think I found something for every category.
Jessica,, I have a few of the same books as you, we could buddy read if you'd like.
Storm Warning (MM)
Exiled Heir (MM) would prefer to use book 2, but idk if it would qualify.
Crocodile Tears (MM)
If you see a way to fit the other Exile Heir books it, I'll trade out

I'm hopeful the whole trilogy will fit in some way. I have bought all three audiobooks as well as the Crocodile Tears audio as they're pretty long books.
I don't think we'll leave 4th place on the leaderboard so I'm reading more of what I want rather than what's going to give the most points.

I read 10 Historicals! That was my limit.
I couldn't do the travel adventure. Not that I mind travel adventure.
I just couldn't fit both the MPG and the categories, and enjoyment.
So I went for enjoyment.
Still trying to do good points, but not going overboard.
SH is the only challenge that I go overboard for.
I will go hard on other challenges, and try to place high....but SH is my downfall. It's so addicting searching for points, I can't help myself.

Enjoyment is the most important, so I'm with you there.

The Cat Sebastian buddy read I really enjoyed. I read book 1 and 2.
Being historical, I wouldn't have chosen it, and would have missed out.

From Skye Blue above: "Looks like I was right.
That category has to be a book that was originally written in a language other than your own. Only option."
Jessica, Swimming in the Dark was first published in English. Google produced this information: Swimming in the Dark is a 2020 novel by Polish writer Tomasz Jędrowski. This novel was subject to a "hotly contested" six-way publishing auction, from which Bloomsbury gained rights. After being first published in English by Bloomsbury in February, Robert Sudół's translation was released in Poland later in the month." It wouldn't have needed a translator if it had been written originally in Polish. And sadly, English is my language. This month has produced a slew of books for me that proved not to fit the category they were read for, across a number of challenges.

Yes, that was my intention, too."

What categories does it fit.
We want to try to use it on 2 different categories for the extra points.
