Carolyn | 2081 comments Jasper Cliff by Josh Kemp Jasper Cliff by AA Josh Kemp is a dark Australian gothic tale set in a tiny, outback town in the Pilbara. Very atmospheric and tense.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments Neil Gaiman has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons (for him, that is), and Goodreads disallowed posting of this review for a couple of weeks. Presumably the trolling (or whatever) has died down, because I was able to post it today.
Coraline by Neil Gaiman Coraline is a bright, inquisitive young girl living in a house that has another magical half with what appears to be another family - hers?! Spooky story for kids and an enjoyable read for adults.

Carolyn | 2081 comments Murder at the Spring Ball (Lord Edgington Investigates, #1) by Benedict Brown Murder at the Spring Ball by Benedict Brown is first in a series set in the 1920s, featuring retired Scotland Yard Superintendent, Lord Edgington. A quick, light mystery.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments Liz Moore's The God of the Woods kept me so absorbed that I hope she follows on with a couple of characters.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments I seldom read horror but I enjoy Stephen King's other fiction. I loved Dolores Claiborne, a monologue confession by an old lady, spectacularly well narrated by Frances Sternhagen.

Carolyn | 2081 comments Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister is true to form - a compelling mystery of a man disappearing after a hostage situation fails, with great characters and plenty of surprises along the way.
