Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments The (not-quite-patient) wait for the 4th Cormac Reilly book from Dervla McTiernan, The Unquiet Grave was well worth it, and Aoife McMahon's narration is brilliant. 5★s

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments With political interest growing in our Asian-Pacific neighbourhood, I was glad I chose to read The Gift of Rain, the compelling story of a young half-English half-Chinese boy growing up on the island of Penang off the coast of Malaya, as it was then. Tan Twan Eng's account of this fascinating history and mix of cultures is terrific. No wonder it was so highly regarded when it was published.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments On a very different note, It's a Good Life is a creepy short story by Jerome Bixby that was adapted by Rod Serling as a teleplay for my favourite old series, The Twilight Zone.
