The Wonderful Discovery of Elizabeth Sawyer by Jonathan Vischer
One of my biggest disappointments of 2024. I expected far better from such a premise.

Carolyn | 9840 comments This is quite a long audiobook on the background and practice of modern dog training, so I mostly listened to it in short stretches while cooking and baking for Christmas/end of year parties. It was interesting if you have a new dog or are new to dog training, but there was a lot to get through before getting to the actual training tips.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I've seen True Love by Paddy Crewe compared to Sally Rooney's writing, and I think that's appropriate. I preferred his unusual first book, My Name Is Yip. I like this, but less.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Ah, Harry! Not a cold case this time, but a complex current one for Bosch. In The Overlook, by veteran best-selling author Michael Connelly, what looks like a 'standard' murder, turns out to have deadly, and potentially very widespread, ramifications.

What Does It Feel Like? by Sophie Kinsella
I ended 2024 with this poignant novella. Much recommended! For those like me who are wary of Sophie Kinsella's usual genre, note that this isn't a romcom.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Aussie writer Adrian Hyland's outback and remote rural mysteries feature female protagonists who are unruly in the best sense of the word - they have to be.

Jesse Redpath is great in The Wiregrass, and my only complaint is that Hyland doesn't write faster.
