A Short Walk Through a Wide World by Douglas Westerbeke
This will be one of my biggest disappointments of 2025. I can't believe a historical fantasy flopped so miserably for me.

Carolyn | 9840 comments My review of The Bookseller (A DS Cross Thriller #7) by Tim Sullivan The Bookseller by Tim Sullivan, a murder in the cutthroat world of sellers and collectors of rare books. This is the first I've read in this series, but I will read more as I enjoyed the unusual detective.

Sarah | 1543 comments Here's my review of The Janes by Louisa Luna, which is actually the second book in her series featuring fiesty and resourceful P.I. Alice Vega and her associate Max Caplan. This was such an engrossing read that I'll definitely be returning to read book #1 (Two Girls Down) very soon!

A short story collection with some amazing fantastical tales that seem more real than magical. Quite introspective!

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
An interesting historical horror, though a tad too gory. My first Grady Hendrix won't be my last!

On Veil Creek by Gaylene Dutchyshen
An indie Canadian historical literary fiction focussing on a dysfunctional family. A great story, but somewhat dark and with many triggers.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments James Rottger's narration of The Winds from Further West is perfect for this thought-provoking, heart-warming and hopeful tale. Alexander McCall Smith never misses. 5★s

Rosh ~catching up slowly~ (roshreviews) | 712 comments I didn't plan to post these today, but I guess you could consider this a coincidental social service message: Please do NOT read either of these stories for Valentine's day if you value your brain cells. You're welcome! Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

1. Royal Valentine by Sariah Wilson Royal Valentine (The Improbable Meet-Cute, #6) by Sariah Wilson
Royalty-commoner-swap short story with plenty of 'Roman Holiday' vibes. But not in a good way at all.

2. With Any Luck by Ashley Poston
With Any Luck (The Improbable Meet-Cute, #5) by Ashley Poston
I had had better hopes from this short story considering the author's reputation, but it was just 0.01% better than the first story.

Sarah | 1543 comments Here's my review of With Winter Comes Darkness by Aussie author Robbi Neal. It's a fascinating psychological / domestic intrigue following the lives of two individuals as their lives become intertwined in the aftermath of events that occurred on a single cataclysmic night.
