Rebecca Huerta | 126 comments I'm considering The Arrival.

message 3: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethlk) | 365 comments Not to be too specific, but if you like crying about dinosaurs, I recommend checking out Cretaceous by Tadd Galusha.

I'm not well versed in this type of comic, so I'm curious to see the recommendations. If nothing else catches my eye, I'm leaning towards The Arrival by Shaun Tan or The Only Child by Guojing.

Denise | 66 comments I did a search and found:
Yellow Butterfly: A story from Ukraine

message 5: by K (new)

K | 23 comments Robot Dreams is a sweet one (I think there might be a bit of text but hardly any) and there is a great animated film that was made recently.

This is the one I'm doing.

message 7: by Gail (new)

Gail | 34 comments I have a deep fondness for the Gon, Vol. 1 series, which features the wordless adventures a little dinosaur with a big personality.
I'm looking at My Friend Toby for the challenge for something new.

message 8: by Cat (new)

Cat (perkyrusalka) | 37 comments I think I'll try The Way Home.

Carly Really Very Normal (seullybwillikers) | 43 comments I'm planning on reading "Crushing" by Sophie Burrows.

Nayab (books_andhooks) | 17 comments Picking up Gon, Vol. 1 and Cretaceous

message 11: by Nayab (new)

Nayab (books_andhooks) | 17 comments I ended up reading Gon: Volume 7 and not gonna lie, I struggled. Now, I ain't a manga reader and even though the art was amazing, I struggled because it was wordless. I am just glad that I challenged myself with this one so mission accomplished, I guess :)

I read this, and while it's very low dialogue FYI it is not wordless so I wouldn't use it for this challenge

message 13: by Denise (new)

Denise | 66 comments Finished Yellow Butterfly: A story from Ukraine. It was a much more difficult task than I anticipated. I read it 3 times and got something different every time. Two of the pages showing the protagonists emotional face are heartbreaking. I’m happy with my book choice

message 14: by Maria (new)

Maria Rosa (meikuei) | 4 comments Check out “Robot dreams” by Sara Varon. A heartwarming, wordless graphic novel about a dog and his robot companion, exploring themes of friendship, loss, and acceptance. Then watch the movie nominated for an Oscar in 2024.

Carissa (clockworkpink) | 1 comments Cinema Panopticum

That's good info, everything I've found about it says it is wordless.

Robin (grayeyed) | 70 comments This one was hard to find... I chose The Longest Day of the Future

message 18: by Jess (new)

Jess (manateegirl) | 5 comments I recommend Anasazi. There are words, but the words are all in a made-up language built from 16 glyphs. You can buy a zine to help you decipher everything if you want, but it's still interesting if you don't understand it.

message 19: by Mandie (new)

Mandie (mystickah) | 218 comments This book did not hit any notes with me, but I read Weathercraft.

I ended up just reading both of them since they're wordless and make for quick reads. Both are really good! I'm using The Only Child for this task since I read it first. I've decided to use The Arrival for a different task.

message 21: by Katie (new)

Katie (redbirdwings) | 17 comments I went ahead and chose Leaf from the Book Riot list of recommendations.

message 22: by Erika (new)

Erika | 131 comments I just got The System in the mail for this one

message 23: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Irvin | 17 comments I read Age of Reptiles Omnibus, Vol. 1 by Ricardo Delgado Age of Reptiles Omnibus, Vol. 1 by Ricardo Delgado - 2/11/25

message 24: by Erin (new)

Erin (panelparty) | 15 comments A Sea of Love is a pretty cute silent comic! I wasn't much into The Arrival but the art is gorgeous.

message 25: by Jill (new)

message 26: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) I read The Only Child, which I had borrowed from the library. I loved it so much I ordered my own copy!

message 27: by Bill (new)

Bill | 17 comments I read The Arrival and highly recommend it. Since it tries to capture the feeling of going to a new land/country, the lack of language and sense of confusion (on both the part of the characters and the reader) are completely appropriate. I borrowed it from my library but I think I want to have my own copy now.
