I'm going to add books that fit some of the tasks. PLEASE if you want/need any of the tasks, take them. All I ask is that you leave me with one! hahaha

I was thinking the same thing about me! I have been just filling in tasks as I am finishing books but don't want to hog everything so if someone else has a book that works feel free to replace mine.

Note for this Quest (2D)

After talking amongst ourselves about all that could go wrong with each of this scenarios, we decided to pool our powers for Persuasion and Perception to appear to be in 2 places at once. With the spells in place, we proceeded to simultaneously work on 2 paths to tackle this Kobayashi Maru we found ourselves in!

Path 1: Hunt the Fragments Across the Planes
You seek out the divine fragments of Kyuss before they can manifest into full godhood.

Path 2: Cleanse the Apostolic Scrolls Before Others Find Them
You travel across realities to retrieve and purify the corrupted scrolls before they fall into mortal or monstrous hands.

Your double assault on Kyuss’s fragments and the corrupted scrolls has bought precious time. But at what cost? The fabric of reality frays like worn cloth. The veil between planes weakens, and shadowy forces whisper just beyond the tear.

The Elder Evils and other cosmic horrors strain to break through. To stop this, you must seal the veil — but the ritual requires immense power, sacrifice, or a perilous bargain.

The Price of Sacrifice
📘Read a book where a character makes a difficult sacrifice for the greater good.

3. Risk
Attempt the ritual alone, hoping to succeed without cost.

📘 Read a book about a lone hero facing impossible odds.

📘 Read a book featuring a high-stakes gamble or risky mission.

📘 Read a book where fate or chance plays a major role.

📘 Read a book that ends with an uncertain or open conclusion.

It looks like this is a two part. We have to mend the rift and then choose either Sacrifice, Bargain or Risk.

What do you all think about the Choice?

I would like to avoid Risk. I'm thinking Sacrifice might have the better outcome....but who knows what we will be sacrificing!! I could be talked into Bargain (but then, we have the "dealing with the devil" to wonder about!!) LOL

I agree with avoiding Risk. I think if we decide what to sacrifice we will have a better chance of not losing someone else. When we leveled up to level 4 I think we got a +2 to ability score. If we all sacrifice an ability point maybe that would be enough of a sacrifice to empower the ritual. Not really sure what else we have that is precious.

I also can see Bargain going sideways but that could be interesting as well. Part of me thinks that bargain could be the way to go because we never have tried the path of going to the fae. We keep trying to fight the worm and the spells and stuff ignoring the other option that was presented in the past.

Whatever you decide is fine with me. I tend towards sacrifice but perhaps the rewards for bargain or risk are greater. Hmm!

I've probably got a better chance of finding a book for sacrifice, though :0)

The book I finished works for 3 of the mending the rift tasks but I put it in "seal the rift" because that seemed like the more difficult one. If anyone was wanting that task I am happy to move it to "whispers beyond the veil" or "deals with darkness". There are 2 other books in the series and I would image they would also work for these tasks if needed.

I'm sure I can find something to fit. I'll see what Fi and Catsalive want before I read.

We seem to be teetering between Sacrifice and Bargain. Let's vote for one and see where that leads us.

I'm fine with sacrifice or bargain, the tasks for bargain seem a little easier maybe. I took the whispers task, hope that's ok.

I think I am going to vote Bargain but will be fine with whatever the majority ends up being.

Does this one look dark & shadowy enough for 📘 Read a book with a shadow or darkness motif on the cover or in the title? It has shadows on the cover & killing angels is a pretty dark motif, I think I'll go with it.

The Pact
You reach into the thinning veil, calling forth a mysterious shadow entity known only as The Whispered — a trickster godling bound to neither light nor dark. The Whispered offers power and aid to seal the rift… but at a price.

I don't have any books in mind right now. Does anyone have a preference on which one they read?

I will have to find something regardless of which task I take, so I'm open for everyone to pick first.

Rolled for a random # & got 2, so I'll take Price of Power.

I found which should work for 1 or 3. I think the fourth one is the one I would have most trouble with.

I think I have a book for the 4th task - The Unlikely Pair. MCs are political enemies and have to work together when they get stranded in the wilderness. Do you think it would work?

I think it works. Especially with the enemies to lovers mpg and the blurb saying arch enemy.
