PBT Charitable Contribution - Exciting Announcement!!

Nicole, I was just asking another PBTer where you were and poof, you appear.
Would PBT be able to set up a cash app or something where members can donate monies through the year and it can be donated with the points donation?

The fundementality of READING has never been more evident than now. Thanks to everyone!

Thank you Anita for handling it all!
And thank you to all the members who donated their points!

Nicole, you are such a star. And we miss you like crazy. Sending love

It is not always apparent on the outside, but Anita personally funds the raffle and other prizes month after month -- the many years I was an admin I was always in some kind of school and Anita never accepted any help from me, kindly acknowledging our different financial situations and paying forward some goodwill in the world. I am grateful to now have a career (thanks to all those years of school!) to help not just Anita, but to honor everyone in PBT whom I adore.
@Jason -- my career, which is what led me to step down as admin, has also drastically reduced my participation in PBT. I still read a lot (and silently lurk on PBT), but my reads have shifted to almost exclusively light-hearted contemporary romance, and I rarely review those books. However, I was JUST telling Anita that my professional life has become more predictable (even if not less demanding) and I would like the challenge of reading one book each month in 2025 for the PBT tag AND reviewing that book here! So hopefully you will see more of me in the coming year. :)

Thank you so much, Nicole, for your kind words!
And I'm even more delighted that you will be dipping your toe back in the PBT waters to join us for a book a month. That makes me so happy! Even if it's all romance, I just like seeing your name now and again.
But, I'm also looking very much forward to a face to face visit sometime this year! I'm gonna make that happen.

A big thank you to both Anita and Nicole R.
Nicole, I too look forward to seeing more of you.

It will be lovely if we're able to see you hear more often, Nicole, but of course your new career is very demanding :)

That said, I'm so very impressed and grateful to Anita and Nicole and all of the wonderful PBT participants! This is such an amazing group!

This is a great cause that is very special to me and my mom, and it warms my heart to think of all the young readers that will benefit.

And I cannot wait to read one of your scathing reviews of a book Nicole!

We really missed you in our "Fall into Smut" thread!

This is a great community for building friendships and stimulating discussions. The Challenges just add to the enjoyment.
I also will look forward to your reviews, Nicole. Do put in a few romance ones when you find a particularly good one. There are a few of us here who would love a recommendation.
Collectively, people donated 8425 points!
Thank you to Book Concierge, Ellen, Hannah, Holly, Jason, Jen T, Jen K, Joanne, Joy, Karin, KateNZ, Linda, Linda C, Nancy, Nicole D, Olivermagnus, Pam, Rachel N, Robin P, Shelly, Sue, Theresa, and Tien for donating points this year.
So, our donation collectively was $842.50 - - over $300 more than last year. Woo-hoo!!
But there's more. Our former and very beloved and much missed administrator, Nicole R, kindly offered to sponsor our ENTIRE donation this year.
And she ROUNDED IT UP to $1000!!!
This was a very unexpected and generous offer, and I'm so grateful to her for doing this for us. I know we all miss her, and it's extra gratifying to know we are still in her heart as she is in ours.
But there's even more good news than that!
Yesterday, there was a special MATCH for any donations made on the 28th. It was a TRIPLE match.
So the benefit to Reading is Fundamental was $3000!!!!
I'm so happy. Reading is near and dear to all of our hearts for the pleasure it brings, but it's also a super critical life skill that all children need, and I'm delighted that we are helping children become readers. Today, we helped!
Nicole R, thank you so much for making this donation on our behalf, and thank you to all of our members who participated all year long to make PBT a fun and vibrant reading community.
