Three high school students formed the Galileo Club to share their interests in science and space exploration. But they never imagined they would team up with a nuclear physicist to construct and crew a rocket bound for the moon.

And they never expected to gain some powerful enemies in the process.

Yes, Space Cadet is the second book in the Heinlein's Juveniles series.

I finished it last night. It was a good little adventure book with plenty of twists and turns. As with most books of that time they didn't spend a lot of time working on things, just threw together a rocket and went. But the books were written for young boys so Heinlein did throw in some details about science and engineering.

I read this online for free today. It's like Hardy Boys with rocketships. A fun read.

Lol yeah, definitely Hardy Boys with rockets.

Truitt_T | 11 comments There are Heinlein books that I love and have read many, many times, but Rocket Ship Galileo isn't one of them, lol.

I'd forgotten much about it, other than it felt like a Garland/Hardy plot 'Let's put on a show!' replaced with 'Let's go to the moon!' And thank goodness Heinlein got better with women - for this one, we're stuck with a few mothers and an offstage, suspect blonde, letter writing girlfriend.

I'm looking forward to revisiting some of the others quite a bit more than this one.

He writes women okay overall for the time, but this is a boy's adventure series from the forties so I don't know if there will be many women.
