Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments I'm so excited to be rereading this! For those who may be reading the first time, I highly recommend reading with your eyes rather than your ears. I initially dnf'd because I was listening to the audiobook and it was getting way too confusing for me to follow along. I finally tried again reading it physically and this book is chef's kiss!! I hope other folks join in to prepare for Book 3! :)

Juliane | 346 comments My book isn't even supposed to arrive for another three weeks but I am also very much looking forward to reading and discussing part 3 of this series.

message 9: by Sarah-Vanessa (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments I wish it would already be available in my reading app 😔

Edith (xeesky) | 799 comments Mod
Looks like we’re all waiting on our copies huh? 😂

message 11: by Sarah-Vanessa (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Edith yes 😂😂 But I didn’t order mine, for the app I just have to wait until they get it from the publisher, that can be tomorrow, in 6 months or never 😉. But as they have the first 2 books, I‘m optimistic they will one day have it available…

message 12: by Juliane (new)

Juliane | 346 comments @Edith I almost wanted/had to agree and then I got a notification earlier today that my audio-book app had preponed its release schedule, yeah 🎉

While I do intend to read the main parts in paper (whenever that arrives) because I really want to savour this book, I couldn't help taking a peek into the audiobook (the first 15 minutes out of almost 25 hours) Don't worry no spoilers just my first impression, how I really love being back in this world straight away but I should have done a re-read of the first two books, because who are they and where are we 😅

@Mina regarding schedule, no idea if it makes sense to already have one if barely anybody has a copy available yet but for reference, the audiobook includes a Prologue with 6 chapters followed by 4 parts consisting of 62 continuous chapters (Part one starts counting the chapters anew after the Prologue). I have unfortunately no page-counts available.

@Juliane

Yes, I've been waiting for someone to tell me the chapters 😂
So it's Prologue (1-6), and then it's 1-62?

message 14: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments The ETA for my copy to be delivered is March 8th so I can get chapters/page counts at that point?

That would be great, thanks.

@mina: popping in to back up juliane! I caved and bought the ebook lol. you had it right earlier, prologue is 6 chapters and then 1-62 chapters following afterwards ...if that makes sense. I may have worded this wrong lol

Juliane | 346 comments mina wrote: "@Juliane

Yes exactly thats the chapter order.

In the audiobook the chapter lengths vary between three minutes to up to 40 minutes, so if there is any intention for an even page distribution the ETA for Briannas copy is probably our best hope 😄

@ Edith I totally get the temptation, I originally wanted to save a few of my audio-book hours this month but my "peek" into this book since yesterday has become longer than planned😂

Brianna C | 1248 comments I finally got my physical copy! Should I put together a schedule for starting today through the last day of the month?

Brianna C | 1248 comments I am so sorry for the delay - it's been a crazy couple of days with my old man cat and the vet but here is what I put together for as even of a breakdown as possible for starting today through the end of the month! Based on my standard hardback (642 pages), it would average out to about 32 pages over 20 days.

3/12: prologue: I - IV
prologue: V - VI + chapter 1
chapters 2 - 5
chapters 6 - 8
chapters 9 - 12
chapters 13 - 15
chapters 16 - 18
chapters 19 - 22
chapters 23 - 27
chapters 28 -31
chapters 21 - 34
chapters 35 - 37
chapters 38 - 40
chapters 41 - 43
chapters 44 - 46
chapters 47 - 50
chapters 51 - 53
chapters 54 - 56
chapters 57 - 59
chapters 60 - 62

Brianna C | 1248 comments I finally started Oathbound am currently through the end of chapter 5.

I know it's only been a few months since I read the first two but I am a bit fuzzy on some stuff already. So far it hasn't been too hard to fall back into this world and follow along but I may circle back and read a recap or something.
So far it's been super interesting that it has predominately NOT been Bree's POV. I genuinely hope that Alice is okay and I genuinely hope that Bree finds some kind of way to keep herself together even with learning from a demon.

message 22: by Juliane (new)

Juliane | 346 comments I've finished the Prologue and have so many more questions now than before 😅
(view spoiler)

message 23: by Brianna (last edited Mar 19, 2025 07:20PM) (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments through chapter 15:
So I remember that Sel's mom and Bree's mom were friends but what is Sel's mom saying about Bree being tested for root and it skipping her generation? If that's the accurate then... when did the root show up? OR did Bree's mom somehow mess with Sel's mom's memory so she wouldn't know? Is that even possible as a Merlin?
So far I am enjoying how things are going with the time jumps and different POVs. It feels like we are spending the right amount of time for each event before letting time pass to the next. I genuinely hope that Alice is okay!

message 24: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments end of chapter 31
Things are definitely starting to overlap again - Sel's mom has run into Bree and now I am guessing Valechaz is the other thief. I am curious to see what happens with Nick and Ava.

message 25: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments through end of 46:
I like what we are learning about everything but I will say I am a smidge annoyed with how long this whole thing is for the auction. What is this building up for?

message 26: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments through the end: Overall I enjoyed this but I think I was a bit affected by finding out that it went from a trilogy to 4 books so I was expected more resolution and instead found it feeling dragged out a bit.

message 27: by Anushka (new)

Anushka Malik (_anushkamalik) | 461 comments The third book was both better and worse than the previous one. I felt that some parts were needlessly stretched on for far too long and could have been better if the book were edited down to 400 pages instead. And I was especially disappointed by the lack of Selwyn Kane chapters. BUT. That ending!!!! Major cliffhanger yes and I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT wait for the next book! That ending was crazy and I LOVED IT. But overall, I did not enjoy the pacing of this book.

message 28: by Jen K (new)

Jen K | 1547 comments I finally read finishing this last week. Bree felt really flat to me, maybe due to the missing bit? She just jumped to extreme emotions and judgements. It also dragged. I might finish with this one. I did not love the cliff hanging ending.

message 29: by Anushka (new)

Anushka Malik (_anushkamalik) | 461 comments It did drag quite a bit, Jen.
