Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Continuing with The Vampire Chronicles,
#8 Blood and Gold or The Story of Marius by Anne Rice

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished Blood and Gold.
Whew, what a l-o-n-g story, over 800 pages. It has always put me off in the past because of the length, but I am glad to finally have Marius’ story behind me. I have #9, Blackwood Farms, on hold from my library.

I am going to finish A Song of Comfortable Chairs now. I started it way too long ago. It is an orphan read.

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments I read most of Anne Rice's books before I joined Goodreads, and I didn't mind a nice long book. But, as I get older, I shy away from longer reads. If I *must* read one, I'll get the audiobook.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments My library hold on Mrs. McGinty’s Dead finally arrived. Mma Ramotswe will understand if I bump her again. 😊

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finished the Hercule Poirot story, Mrs. McGinty’s Dead. Not my favorite story, but ok.
Rather sad and convoluted. Maybe it should have been 3 stars but I gave it 4. I didn’t like any of the characters, even Poirot sometimes.

I will resume A Song of Comfortble Chairs - No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency - orphan. It really doesn’t call to me, story wise. I don’t have anything jumping up and down and waving at me right now. I can’t even find an audiobook that I want to listen to...

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I found something to read and listen to. The same book. The audiobook version is narrated very well and since the ebook was also available, I am reading and listening. It is listed as #1 in a series. What the River Knows by Isabel Ibanez. Set in Egypt in 1884. The young woman narrator reads very well and I really like her voice. The audiobook is 17 hrs long.

Janice - I think you might like this one.

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments It sounds interesting Cherie. Thanks for the recommendation.

How was the reading while you were listening to the book. I've never tried it, but I believe that's what whispersync is all about.
