This year I am going to set up the Monthly Reads up in advance. So I found this website with a list of 95 genres and had my friend pick a random number for each month and that is what decided the genres for this year.
You must read each genre in the month that it is listed however if you read a book of that genre in a different month and think we may like to know about it, I am OK with you posting about it (who doesn't like to add to their TBR list?).
I have also set up 3 alternative options, if that month's genre is one you just can't read, you can substitute one of the alternates. But you only have 3!
