It was one of Daphne du Maurier's inspirations for Rebecca.


It will be my first of hers, looking forward to it. I have a couple of others of her's on my TBR shelves as well as a biography- The Countess from Kirribilli: The mysterious and free-spirited literary sensation who beguiled the world

I'm finding it very hard to put down.

I think it was longer than that, as she was sick for a while.
The most frightening thing about Wenmyss is that he learns nothing from his mistakes & his wives are the ones who pay.

I don't think he was able to learn. He had such kind of personality, he needed therapy, or at least a good intervention or conversation to start seeing what he was doing.
