Now starting HANG ON ST. CHRISTOPHER by Adrian McKinty, the latest hardcover release in his ongoing series featuring detective inspector Sean Duffy and set in Ireland during the early 90's.
The Third Man is the classic Graham Greene post WW2 mystery set in occupied Vienna. It has been produced in many formats, text, script, film, and this fully dramatised version I refer to as a radio play. So good!

Irish author Jess Kidd's new novel, Murder at Gulls Nest, is the first of what I bet will be a popular new cosy mystery series. Former nun Nora Breen is exasperatingly 'helpful' to a local detective. 😊

I liked the curious (in all senses of the word) boy Waldo at the heart of Dani Shapiro's novel, Signal Fires. Where would we be without these kids who stick to passionate interests (like the universe) even when their parents don't get it?

Forty Thieves
by Thomas PerryA husband-and-wife team of private detectives trying to solve a murder encounter a husband-and-wife team of hired killers. Both couples soon meet a vicious gang of European jewel thieves. Very complex and entertaining plot with memorable characters and lots of action. I liked it a lot -- 4 stars. I'm a real fan of Perry's work.

Mamur Zept #2. Cairo, Egypt circa 1905. There's a murder to solve and religious rioting to prevent. Lots to keep the Mamur Zept busy. A great many moving parts to remember and keep straight and I had a bit of trouble with all the Egyptian names so 3 stars for this one. FYI the Mamur Zept is the head of the British secret police.
