Finished reading Slow Horses and enjoyed it so much I just bought the next three books. Haven't seen the series yet (wanted to read the novel first), but I see it happening in my near future.

Oh how I envy you reading the series for the first time! It's such a favourite of mine, Nancy, that I may have to read it again and skip some of the new books.

PattyMacDotComma | 922 comments For any fans of American professional football, especially those with young kids they hope will become fans, I'm happy to recommend the brand new Patrick Mahomes children's biography by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. His Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl again in a few weeks!

I plan on reading the entire series. I don't know why it took this long and I'm kicking myself now.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments Innocent: Confessions of a Welfare Mother Innocent Confessions of a Welfare Mother by B. Morrison by B. Morrison

Barbara Morrison grew up in an upper class home and was a college graduate, but at age 24 Barbara had to go on welfare. She tells her story in this memoir/autobiography.

Very eye-opening. 4 stars

Araych | 677 comments The Winds of Change The Winds of Change (Richard Jury, #19) by Martha Grimes by Martha Grimes

Richard Jury #19. Another in a very well done series of English mysteries. Jury and Plant are trying to solve a very complicated plot line of murder and a child who has disappeared. A large part of the plot does involve pedophilia. I liked it but the too-complicated plot and the stuff involving the kids leaves me at 3 stars.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments Dog Tags Dog Tags (Andy Carpenter, #8) by David Rosenfelt by David Rosenfelt

Another humorous Andy Carpenter mystery; the attorney gets on the wrong side of a criminal syndicate while defending a murder suspect.

Andy's sarcasm and humorous quips - along with the recurring characters - make these books fun. 3.5 stars

Nemesis (Orphan X, #10) by Gregg Hurwitz - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

James Bryne is back with another Dez Limerick installment. Dez is a more laid-back, easier going, and flirty than Orphan X, but just as much of a bad@$$!!!

Chain Reaction (Dez Limerick, #3) by James Byrne - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

In this addition to the 'The Bosch Universe' series, Detective Renée Ballard and the cold case division looks into two BIG cases: a serial rapist and the (real life) Elizabeth Short murder. Harry Bosch lends Renée a hand.

Good thriller. 4 stars

James Best (jamesbest) | 299 comments Now starting KINGDOM OF SHADOWS (2000) by Alan Furst, the sixth novel in his acclaimed Night Soldiers espionage series set between the early 1930's and the end of WWII as the Iron Curtain was starting to descent on eastern Europe.

The book won the now defunct Hammett Prize as the Best Crime Fiction Novel of the Year. If it ends well I have the next two books in the series waiting in the wings.
