It takes some convincing to get me to go read Chapter 1 of 4,000 Weeks, but I’ve agreed to read this book for Book Club, and I will. I’m a big girl, I can do big girl things. Chapter 1 is all about time, and a reminder that there just isn’t enough of it. Burkeman pitches what he calls the limit-embracing attitude to time. Which means that when planning my day I need to remember that there is definitely not enough time to do everything that I want to get done. My question at the end of this chapter is how do I decide what items are worth my time and which ones are not? I almost feel like Burkeman is introducing me to problems that I didn’t even know I have. I’m not sure if this is good for my situational anxiety.
