Noor | 2 comments Hey guys, this is the first group i ever joined since downloading this app this morning, and i have one question: is crescent city worth a read??
I got the book as soon as it came out because i had loved the ACOTAR and TOG series, so i was stoked to see a new series by Sarah J Maas. But when I started CC, i just never really got into it and put it down. Never picked it up again.
Similar thing happened with A Court of Silver Flames, but i recently tried that book again and LOVED it. But i am not sure if I will experience the same with CC.

So guys - and I really want honest opinions here - is it worth it? I have about 30 books on my to-read list already and limited time to read due to work.

Either way, love to see so many fans and friends on this app :) Truly a wonder of this age that we can so easily share books now.

Sara | 3 comments Just finished books 1&2 last week and I LOVED them. Both 5 star reads for me. They do have a slow start, but this is needed for the incredible world-building. In both books the endings is amazing.

So I’d say definitely worth a read, even if you don’t like it atleast u tried.

Also the end of book 2 has such an amazing plot twist so I’d read the series just for that.

Vittoria | 1 comments Honestly, I didn't like it much. The first book was ok I guess. But the last one was, in my opinion, pretty bad. Despite few cool things happening, I think the characters have worsened and overall I was disappointed

Stephanie Lance | 5 comments CC1 is one of my favorite books!!! It’s got a beautiful ending and a fun romance plot. I loved them all, but #1 is soooo good! If you liked acotar and tog, definitely read them!

kelsie (faeriegoodbooks) | 4 comments Loved CC1 but you will only be disappointed from there.

Amanda Christian | 3 comments I just finished CC and I loved how modern it was. I’m reading the second book now. Jump in, you won’t regret it!

Syd (sydneylauren) | 4 comments I honestly think it is a hit or miss for people especially when it’s stacked up against ACOTAR & TOG. Sarah J Mass really was competing with herself when she released the crescent city books. CC has a different vibe but I think it’s still worth the read! I personally LOVED the first one and while it took me some time to get through the second and third I still enjoyed my time reading them ☺️

kirstreads | 13 comments It’s worth it if you want to read all of sarah, but I was left disappointed by the 3rd book in the series.

Jess☺️ (jessicas1984) | 27 comments I personally enjoyed it but I was left with a is that all feeling I needed another book or a longer epilogue, I must admit my favourite series of her's is Throne of Glass because it was the first one I read, ACOTAR Is ok for me until book 2 it starts to get better with each book sorry people

Lizzie Mills | 7 comments Yes!!! I loved book one, liked book two a lot, but book three lost the plot a bit for me BUT I absolutely still loved it and loved all the cross overs!!! I say it’s 100% a necessary read of you are not just reading acotar.

hi, thank you so much for joining our group! we're so happy you're here! :)

i personally think crescent city is worth the read, but i will say that it's definitely very different from sjm's other series'. it waited until the second book in the series came out to pick it up because i wasn't sure how i felt about high fantasy mixed with modern technology, but i ended up loving it!! it does throw a lot more information at you at the start of the story, which can be overwhelming, but it's worth sticking it out. once you get past the 150ish page mark, the plot really starts to pick up!

Noor | 2 comments Hey guys, thanks for all the replies :)) I think i will read it sometime then, just not keep my hopes up for the 2nd and 3rd books 😅 Much love 🫶

message 13: by Karlee (new)

Karlee Cromley I loved reading Crescent City, and it may be my favorite series thus far! I think it was a great change to have after reading both Acotar and TOG (which i absolutely loved both series too). At first CC1 is confusing with the world you’re thrown into and the system the world runs on, but after I got into it I couldn’t put it down. The universe has a lot of lore and easter eggs from Maas’s other two series as well! So I believe Crescent City is a must read if you plan on continuing to read Maas’s (hopefully) upcoming release. ALSO I loveeee Hunt and Bryce <3

Julie | 4 comments I loved how it was a more modern fantasy. ACTOR is my favorite but Crescent city is my second favorite. You have to meet Lehabah, I love her so much.

Laura Reynolds | 11 comments I thought I wasn’t going to love it as much as I did. Was slow to get into but wow was it worth it!!!

message 16: by Elisa (new)

Elisa Callegari | 1 comments I did not like it, i’m not a fan of futuristic worlds. I found that there were too many details and names.. i couldn’t keep track of them and the story 😕

message 17: by Vorheesacker (new)

Vorheesacker | 11 comments CC1 is one of my absolute favorites. I ugly cried throughout so much of the book. I can see it being hard to get into but once it gets going it gets *going*.

Sarah E B (saraheb2011) | 21 comments No not really, just like most of her work, she can't so actually solid writing or worldbuilding.
