Description: Celeste has tanned skin and brown, almond-shaped eyes. Although naturally black, she likes dyeing her long, straight hair various colors, such as red, blonde, and brown. She loves styling her hair in buns, ponytails, braids, and pigtails. She also likes adding clips and ribbons in her hair to complete her look. Celeste is relatively short, standing at around 5'3". Celeste is very girly, and her fashion shows this. She likes to wear dresses, skirts, and blouses, although she will wear sweaters, jackets, and jeans when the weather is cold. For she shoes, she mainly likes to wear heeled boots and high heels to make herself look taller than she really is.

Personality: Celeste is a very bubbly and cheerful girl. Her optimism is beloved by some of the students at Cogworks, but others disregard it as her being naïve. While in some aspects this is true, Celeste considers it a good thing to always be positive, and is quite intelligent. She is sociable, and will approach anyone who is willing to start a conversation with her. Celeste has a heart of gold, generous, and will help out anyone who needs it. She is also a creative person and loves expressing herself through drawing and painting. Celeste loves making others happy, whether it be through gifts or just simply giving them a wave and smile. She is funny and goofy and not afraid to show it. She is a loyal friend, someone you can depend on if you're feeling down.

History: Celeste was born and raised in Asterath, the middle of three children. Growing up, her parents didn't have the best relationship. She would constantly hear them arguing, whether it would be something major or minor it didn't matter. Hearing them yell at each other made Celeste sad to the point that she would cry every time. She loved her parents dearly, but she hated that they were fighting all the time. As a result, her parents divorced when she was seven years old.
Celeste took her parents' divorce hard. She felt like her world and family were torn apart, and there was nothing she could do about it. She felt powerless. Celeste left her home and moved into a new house with her mother and siblings shortly after, leaving her father by himself. It felt weird for her to be in a new house, almost foreign to her. She had mixed emotions about it; while the change of scenery was nice, she missed her old house and wanted everything back to normal. But she knew that wouldn't happen.
Celeste attended Cogworks while that was going on. She struggled during this time, having difficulties focusing on her schoolwork. All she could think about was having a hard time adjusting to her new life and her parents. This went on for a few weeks, and some of the teachers notices and were worried about Celeste. They knew that she was a bright and capable student, but they didn't know what was going on. When asked, Celeste hesitated at first, not wanting to bring her personal life into it. But when she eventually brought up her parents and their divorce, they told her while it would be difficult at first, things will get better. Her conversations with her teachers made her feel better, and everything clicked for Celeste.
This was when she decided to be more positive and optimistic. While she knew there were bad moments in life, she began to focus on everything good. She has visited her father a few times afterwards, but she doesn't get to see him often, and they don't have much of a relationship anymore. Celeste still attends Cogworks to this day, and loves it.

Personality: Aiden is shy, quiet, and tends to not talk much. He's not much of a sociable person, so he avoids talking to others unless it's absolutely necessary. Aiden is a kind and gentle person and cares about the people around him. He is independent and prefers to be by himself while doing anything, whether it be reading or something else. He works hard and is determined to achieve his goals. Aiden is intelligent, having demonstrated skills in math and science, subjects that he's shown great interest in. Despite everything that his family has been through, he loves and cares for them, even if he always doesn't show it.

History: Aiden was born into the Calico family, one of Voxthain's wealthiest noble families and is the only son of Eadric and Elara Calico. Being born into nobility, he experienced a life of luxury ever since he was child. Despite this, his life wasn't picture perfect like the public were lead to believe.
In all honesty, Aiden's family life was a mess. Eadric would frequently cheat on Elara, and he was angry at his father for this, although he never said anything to him about it. Two of these affairs resulted in an older half-brother, Alex, and a younger half-sister, Artemisia. Why his mother decided to stay with his father was beyond him. And while he does care for Alex and Artemisia, he hates that they're not his mother's children.
His father also preferred his sisters over him, which hurt Aiden and strained their relationship even more. He had nothing against his sisters, he just wished that his father didn't play favorites. Because of this, he spent more time with his mother and became closer to her. He always went to Elara for help or advice whenever he needed it and was grateful to have such a kind and loving mother.
He was enrolled in Cogworks as child, mainly focusing on his evocation and illusion magic. While he didn't like school that much, he works hard and does the best he can, as he doesn't want to disappoint his parents. Being born a noble, he made some enemies at Cogworks, but he learned to ignore them and continue on with school. He still attends the school to this day, waiting to graduate and leave.
When he was eleven years old, Aiden's sister Alianna ran for councilor, but Caledonia Hayden was elected instead. After Alianna's defeat to Caledonia, she ran away, shocking the whole family, including Aiden. He still thinks about her to this day, wondering where she could be. He's moved on though, accepting that Alianna may not return ever again.

Personality: Venus is a hard worker and dedicated to her job as a councilor. She is kind, compassionate, and genuinely cares for Voxthian and its people. She is honest, and hates being lied to. She would rather know the truth than have it sugarcoated for her. Although she's optimistic, Venus knows when to be realistic, and is aware that not everything in the world is good. She is intelligent, calm, collected, and can handle stressful situations with relative ease. Venus can be quiet and shy around others, but is always willing to put that aside to work with her fellow councilors. Overall, Venus uses her best judgement to decide what would be beneficial for the Voxthian people.

History: Venus was born into a well-off Voxthain family. Her father is an engineer and her mother was a former councilor for the city. Her parents were strict, wanting Venus and her sister Sera to work hard and have successful lives. Despite their strict nature, Venus' parents were kind and generous, which she loved and respected, especially her mother.
Her mother was her biggest influence while she was growing up and was like a role model to Venus. She admired her hard work and dedication to her job and loved how her mother cared so deeply for the Voxthian people. She taught her to be moral, compassionate, respectful, honest, and always do the right thing, which Venus has instilled in herself to this day.
Like most children, Venus started attending Cogworks when she was five years old. While there, she focused mainly on abjuration and conjuration magic. Although she struggled with her magic at first, Venus proved to be a quick learner once she got the hang of it. She loved her time at Cogworks, and made friends with some of her classmates and other students. Venus graduated from Cogworks at eighteen, excited to start a new chapter in life and focus on the future.
After graduation, Venus worked in a tailor shop for a few years to earn some money. She learned how to sew and make clothes, which she enjoyed. While she was happy at her job, she wanted something more exciting n her life. Inspired by her mother, Venus wanted to be just like her. After working at the tailor shop for four years, she left her job, a risk she was willing to take.
And that risk paid off. When she was twenty-three, Venus was elected as a councilor, much to her surprise and joy. She dreamed of this moment ever since she graduated from Cogsworks, and was proud to be in her mother's footsteps. One of Venus' top priorities since becoming councilor was the shadowfog, She has done extensive research on what she could find out about it for several years, hoping to help her fellow councilors come up with a solution to stop it so no one else would die and suffer the agonizing pain it caused those who were affected by it.

Personality: Clarissa is how you would expect any snake to be; cruel, ruthless, and seemingly uncaring. But she is surprisingly calm, cool, and collected for a snake. She is cunning, clever, and resourceful, preferring to plan ahead instead of rushing into things. Clarissa is very skilled with weapons, her preferences being a sword and bow and arrow. She is charismatic, usually using her charm to try to get herself out of trouble when needed. Clarissa loves art and being creative and enjoys painting and drawing. She is feisty and can be quite aggressive, especially if she's provoked in any way. Despite her cold nature, she has kind side, but she rarely shows it, especially towards the other snakes, as she believes it would be a sign of weakness for them.

History: Clarissa was born in Asterath an only child into a middle-class family. Her parents raised her with plenty of love and adored their daughter, spoiling her every chance that they got. Her childhood was normal, and she had a close relationship with her parents as a result of their love and affection.
Clarissa attended Cogworks as a child, where she made a few friends. Although she formed some friendships, she had a few enemies as well, and was bullied by some of the students, but whether it was because of jealousy, or they simply didn't like her she wasn't sure. She confided this in her friends and parents, who helped her learn to stand up for herself and stop the bullying. She was grateful for her support system, and it helped boost her confidence in herself. She graduated from Cogworks at eighteen.
Despite being raised in a loving family, there was one relative she didn't like: her uncle. In fact, she despised him. He was jealous, petty, and narcissistic, so full of himself and thought highly of himself, and Clarissa always hated when he would come over to her house to visit. He was jealous of her father, his brother. Back when all three went to Cogworks together, her uncle fell in love with her mother, but she didn't return his feelings. Instead, she loved and chose her father, enraging her uncle.
On one night her uncle came to visit, he snapped. He got into a heated argument with her father, her uncle explaining how he was still hurt over her mother's rejection. And Clarissa was there to witness the whole argument, all four of them in the living room together. Suddenly, her uncle took out a pistol, threatening to shoot her father. Her mother and father tried to reason with him, but he pulled the trigger, hitting her father in the shoulder. Horrified and realizing what he had done, Clarissa's uncle quickly left, and her and her mother rushed her father to the nearest medical center. While he survived, he experienced deteriorating health after the incident. Her father died when she twenty-one, leaving Clarissa and her mother emotional wrecks. After her father's death and hearing what her uncle had done, her father's side of the family cut ties with him, along with her and her mother, having not spoken to him since. While technically not responsible for her father's death, she still blames him to this day. The gunshot still blares in her head ever since that night.
A year after her father's death, Clarissa ran away from home, leaving a note for her mother explaining that she didn't want her to go out and find her. She felt horrible for leaving her mother, but she felt like she couldn't stay with her. It was too painful for her to see her mother in such a distressed state and hated seeing and hearing her cry.
It was during this time that Clarissa learned to fend for herself through pickpocketing and other petty crimes. She stumbled across Club Serpentine, who welcomed her with open arms. Clarissa decided to join them, as she had nowhere else to go. Worried about her mother, they would write letters to each other and still do to this day, but she hasn't told her that she joined Club Serpentine. She knows it would break her mother's heart if she found out she was associated with such a notorious gang.

Personality: Mallory is about as sarcastic and sassy as they come. She is very opiniated, not afraid to share her honest thoughts about something or someone. Due to this, Mallory can be very blunt and straight to the point. She doesn't beat around the bush, which can result in hurt feelings without intending to. Mallory loves animals, having a soft spot for them. She is loyal to her friends and family and can be protective of them at times. She is very sociable and loves interacting with others and making new friends, even if she can come across as annoying to others. Once you become Mallory's friend, she will always be by your side, but she respects other's privacy and knows when they need their space and time to themselves.

History: Mallory never knew her birth family. She doesn't know anything about her parents or even if she had siblings. She was left on the doorstep of an orphanage shortly after she was born. When a staff member of the orphanage saw Mallory with no note or sign of her parents, they decided to raise her along with the other children living there. She made a few friends with some of the children there, but nothing too memorable or noteworthy. Mallory lived at the orphanage until she was four years old, when two members of the Arachnia gang, who were married and had children of their own, came across her. Taking pity on the girl, they took her in, raising her as their own daughter among the other Spiders.
Growing up in the Arachnia for most of her life, Mallory was no stranger to crime and gang life. She quickly learned how to pickpocket from her parents and developed a natural talent for it. She would go in the middle of the night, stealing jewelry, gems, and other valuables from the wealthier Asterath citizens and bring the stolen goods back to the rest of the Spiders.
Mallory attended Cogworks for a few years, but she struggled. She couldn't focus on her schoolwork and showed disinterest in going to school each day. Some of the students also teased her, and while it didn't escalate to bullying, she still didn't like the backhanded comments she received from her peers. After telling her parents about this when she returned home from school one day, they decided to pull her out of Cogworks and finish her education themselves instead.
As she got older, Mallory wondered what happened to her birth family and if they were still alive. But she figured that she shouldn't worry about them. Why should she when they abandoned her? Because she feels a little bitter about it. Although she also understands that they could've struggled and weren't able to care for her anymore.
The Arachnia is her family now. She has acclimated to it and loves the thrill pickpocketing gives her. Despite knowing the dangers of gang life, she cares for the other Spiders and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Personality: Nevaeh is a mischievous and rebellious girl. She loves pulling pranks causing chaos around Asterath. She knows when to be serious when the situation calls for it, though, and can be quite stern. She tends to be more reserved and quiet, but can be sociable, especially around her family and friends. She is quite sarcastic, though she never intends to hurt anyone's feelings. She is rather intelligent, an asset that she considers to be valuable. Nevaeh is mellow and relaxed person, preferring to go with the flow and improvises when needed. She is an independent person, usually wanting to do things by herself and in her own way unless it's with other members of the Night Riders. Overall, Nevaeh is a kind and friendly person once you get to know her better.

History: Nevaeh was born to a middle-class family in Asterath. Her family was relatively well-off growing up, with her parents owning a successful bakery. She loved to help out with her older sister Raquel when her parents allowed it. She loved baking, learning how to make cakes, pies, and a variety of other desserts from her parents. She enjoyed being at there, as it was a good way to spend time with her parents and sister.
Nevaeh started attending Cogworks when she was five years old. She wasn't interested school and became a bit rebellious: she skipped classes once in a while, didn't do some of the homework, and pulled the occasional prank. Of course, she was smart and more than capable in doing well, she just didn't want to put in the effort to do well all the time. But despite this, she pushed through, wanting to make her parents proud of her.
Nevaeh graduated from Cogworks at eighteen, unsure of what to do next. So, she decided to work full time at her parents' bakery, which they agreed to. Her sister didn't choose the same path, though; Raquel wanted to become a medic, so was what she exactly did. And while Nevaeh was sad that she couldn't as much time with her sister, she and her parents fully supported her in her dream. Nevaeh and Raquel drifted apart after this, but they still try to keep in contact with each other as often as they can.
Shortly after Raquel left, Nevaeh's family faced an unexpected difficulty. A fire started in the bakery, leaving them to take immediate action. Fortunately, they managed to put out the fire without there being too much damage. However, Nevaeh's father received a burn on his arm, resulting in a scar that's still there to this day. After the incident, her parents decided to give the bakery to a few of their family friends, allowing them to run it. This upset Navaeh. It was in their family for several years, and they decided to give up on it just like that? She had an argument with them about it. She asked them why the sold it, her parents explaining that it was because of the fire, and they didn't want to have the possibility of going through that again. Once she heard their explanation, she felt bad, but understood their reasoning. Nevaeh still likes visiting the bakery to this day, as it holds a lot of memories for her.
When she was 19, Nevaeh came across some members of the Night Riders. She was asked if she wanted to join, and she agreed. Now, she's a full-fledged member of the gang, carrying out missions for them and causing chaos around the streets of Asterath just like she did back at Cogworks, and she's loving it.

Personality: Casper is a quiet and reserved person. He usually keeps to himself and prefers to be independent and alone. Though he's more social and open once he gets to know someone more. He's intelligent and is very skilled in math and sciences, having a natural talent for them. When he's not working, Casper likes to read and cook during his free time. He is a kind and caring person, wanting to help others in any way that he can. He has empathy for those affected by the shadowfog and others who have struggled for any other reason. Casper's strongest asset though is his loyalty. He's always there to help his friends when they need and is someone that they can rely on.

History: Casper was born to a poor family in Voxthain. His father was a traveling merchant, hoping to provide enough for his family. His mother remained home so that she could raise him and his sister. Due to this, his father wasn't around much, out traveling the continent and selling goods.
Despite this, Casper's father still remained in contact with the rest of his family. He would send letters, and Casper grew up hearing wonderful and magical stories about his travels, which made him excited. For him, it made it even better when his father would occasionally return home from his travels and tell the stories himself. Casper missed him while he was away, but the letters and stories made it more bearable.
When Casper was four years old, he and the rest of his family were sent an unexpected letter from his father. He explained that he was in Runalithe when a shadowy mist hit, known as the shadowfog. He managed to escape, but not before his arm was affected by it and beyond repair. When his father returned home, Casper was shocked to see the state of his arm. His mother immediately took his father to get a prosthetic, resulting in a new magic-filled left arm.
Casper's parents enrolled him in Cogworks at five years old, inspired to focus on transmutation magic after his father's incident in Runalithe, along with conjuration. Casper was hard-working and obedient student, always doing his best to do well in school. He didn't socialize with others much, but he did manage to make a few friends. While he did enjoy school, nothing memorable stood out to him during his years at Cogworks.
Casper graduated from Cogworks at eighteen, being able to use transmutation and conjuration magic with ease. He already knew before graduating that he wanted to become a mechanic, wanting to help others affected by the shadowfog just like his father was. Shortly after Cogworks, Casper got a job working under a mechanic at the Tinkerers' Hall. He and the mechanic worked closely together, having a mutual respect for each other. Impressed with Casper's natural talent as a mechanic, he quickly rose up in the ranks, eventually becoming a proper mechanic.
Now Casper has been a mechanic for the past five years, loving every minute of it. He gets enjoyment out of helping others and creating prosthetics for people, whether it's because of the shadowfog or for other reasons. He's worried about the shadowfog as it draws closer to Voxthain and doesn't want more people to die or be affected by it like his father was. But for now, he's just focused on his job and tries his best to carry out his duties like any other day.

Personality: Evelyn isn't the best person to be around. While not the rudest person in the world, it would still be wise to not cross her. She can be selfish, spiteful, and a bit arrogant at times. She gets easily jealous of other nobles who think they're than her or the rest of the Delacroix family, as she believes her family is the most powerful. She does her best to keep the image of her family intact, wanting to fool others into believing they're perfect. Evelyn is intelligent and manipulative, willing to do anything to live up to the Delacroix name. In public though, she plays the part of the ideal noble almost flawlessly: poised, elegant, and graceful. Her stuck-up attitude is mostly a projection of her insecurities. Deep down, she is a kind person, but doesn't like to show it, as she believes it will bring down her family's name.

History: Evelyn Delacroix, née Devoe, was born into nobility. Her parents spoiled her from an early age, so she was used to getting almost everything she wanted. They were strict with her and her siblings and had expected all of them to marry nobility. Evelyn knew this, so she was determined to meet her parents' expectations.
While at Cogworks, she met a boy named Albert. They fell in love, but there was one problem; he was a commoner. They kept the relationship a secret for a few years, knowing that Evelyn's parents would not approve of him since he wasn't nobility. When her parents found out about the relationship one day, they were furious. They gave Evelyn an ultimatum: break up with Albert or stay with him and be cut off from the rest of the family. They had revealed to her that they cut ties with her sister, who refused to break up with her boyfriend who wasn't a noble either.
Shocked that they did that to her sister, Evelyn reluctantly agreed to end her relationship with Albert. She was angry at her parents for cutting ties with her sister, but she didn't say anything, as she truly did love them and wanted to make them proud of her.
The next day at school, Evelyn talked to Albert, explaining the situation to him. While heartbroken, to her relief, Albert was understanding and agreed to end the relationship amicably. They remained friends though, which she didn't tell her parents, since they knew they'd be angry at her.
A year after graduating Cogworks, Evelyn was elected councilor, a role she maintained for ten years before stepping down. Despite coming from a strict noble family, she did her best to make decisions that benefitted the Voxthain people, although her judgment was a bit skewed at times.
A few years later, she met her future husband Ezekiel, a member of the notorious Delacroix house. Her parents were ecstatic for Evelyn to date a noble after Albert, especially a Delacroix. While she wasn't as in love with him as she was with Albert, she liked him enough to agree to marry him when he proposed to her.
They married when she was twenty. While it was a lovely wedding, Evelyn couldn't help but notice her sister Charlotte wasn't there. It made sense to her, sense she was cut off, but she felt sad that she couldn't be there to celebrate. She secretly keeps in contact with Charlotte without her parents' knowledge, and they both share their anger towards their parents.
A year after the wedding, Evelyn gave birth to her first daughter, Lorelei, followed by Athena a year later, and eventually her third daughter was born. She was extremely proud of Lorelei when she was elected councilor. To this day, Evelyn still does her best to keep a good image for the Delacroix family, wanting the public to be in her family's good graces.

Personality: Soleil is a ray of sunshine with a heart of gold. She is extroverted and energetic, always eager to help out her homeroom teacher and students when they need it. She cares for the students and wants them to succeed and do well in school. Soleil hates violence and is not a confrontational person and is very much against it. She is an intelligent person, being able to solve relatively complex problems and enjoys learning new things. Soleil is a big believer in giving others second chances no matter the circumstances. Even if someone has wronged her, she doesn't hold grudges and tends to be sympathetic towards them since she believes that you never know what they're going through.

History: Soleil was born into a wealthier family in Voxthain. While her family wasn't extremely wealthy, they were well-off enough to live a comfortable life. Her mother was a teacher at Cogworks for several years before she retired, and her father was a doctor. Soleil realized early on how lucky she was to be in a family like hers.
Soleil's father traveled between Voxthain and Asterath to treat patients from both cities, and she and her mother would accompany him sometimes. She sympathized with the Asterathi citizens as they feared the gangs and crime. She wish that they didn't have to live like that. But what could she do? Nothing. She was a child, after all.
Her parents enrolled her in Cogworks and was assigned to her mother's room, Homeroom Ruby. As she got older, Soleil discovered her natural talent for abjuration magic, so she mainly focused on that and some evocation. She enjoyed all of her classes at Cogworks, but English was her favorite and piqued her interest the most. The school was her favorite place to be at besides home, as it allowed for her to spend time with her mother more.
After graduating Cogworks, Soleil got a job as a waitress at a restaurant near her house. Two years later, she left her job after finding that she wasn't satisfied with it. Deep down, she knew that she wanted to follow her mother's footsteps and work at Cogworks. So, she decided to follow her dreams and work her way into becoming a teacher's assistant.
She learned that there was a spot open for the teacher's assistant for Homeroom Sapphire and applied for the position. She was accepted, happy and proud of herself that she was able to work hard and get the job.
Her mother retired from teaching shortly after, but Soleil continues to work at Cogworks as a teacher's assistant for Homeroom Sapphire. She enjoys her job and loves helping the students in any way that she can.

He can be cold and rude and doesn't like expressing his emotions that much. Despite his aloof nature, Lawrence does somewhat care for his family even if he doesn't always show it.

History: Lawrence was born into the notorious Seavey family and the younger son of his parents. An ancient name, the Seaveys are well known across Voxthain since they are in charge of the newspapers. Being the younger son, Lawrence's older brother Stuart was heir, which he didn't mind. While he did enjoy writing and journalism, he had no interest in running the newspaper when he was older. In a way, he was relieved that he would never inherit the family business.
Lawrence also has a sister, though he doesn't have much contact with her. She was disowned after she divorced her husband and later married Anita Thorne. Because of that, she isn't mentioned by the rest of his family.
Lawrence was enrolled in Cogworks as a child, with particular focus on evocation and conjuration magic. Due to his family's reputation, some of the students tried to be in his good graces so they wouldn't be written about in the papers. Lawrence didn't mind, though. Friends weren't his main priority at school. He just wanted to get through school and not worry about anything else.
Lawrence graduated from Cogworks at eighteen, helping his family run the business. He didn't play much of a role in the papers, but he did what he was told to do and helped in any way that he could. While not the heir, he still wanted to keep a good image for his family.
Two years after graduating Cogworks, Lawrence met his future wife. She was a noble too, which was a plus for his parents. They wanted him to marry her, and he agreed to propose to her. Not long after, he proposed, with his wife accepting it. When he was twenty-three, Lawrence married his wife in a grand ceremony at the Seavey estate. This was a memorable day for Lawrence, as he did genuinely care for his new wife.
A few years after they married, Lawrence's wife gave birth to their only child. In all honesty, Lawrence wasn't a great father, which he can admit looking back on it. He was strict and felt like he gave his child the love that they deserved.
As his child got older, Lawrence and his wife found out that they were bullying their niece Melody. Furious that Melody was treated that way, they disowned their child aa a result, not having spoken to each other since. In a way, Lawrence felt bad for both of them, as he blamed himself for the bullying his niece went through.
Now, Lawrence still helps out with the newspaper, though much less than he did when he was younger. He occasionally looks back on the past, regretting some of his actions and decisions. But he tries not to dwell too much on it and has learned to slowly move on and look forward and think of the future.

But she loves her sister and the rest of her family dearly and wouldn't trade them for the world.

History: Marianne was born to two commoner parents in Voxthain. She doesn't remember much about them, but what she does remember is that being their only child, they adored her and showered her love and affection, spoiling her when they had the chance. When she was five years old, her parents fell ill, passing away a few weeks after. Having no other family to go to, Marianne had to learn how to be resourceful and fend for herself.
A year later, Marianne was adopted by Topaz and Fae Ellington-Wyver, two noblewomen who married to keep their families strong. Now she was suddenly a noble. She had a hard time adjusting to a life of nobility at first, but she slowly got used to it over time. Despite not necessarily liking the role of a noble, Marianne was, and still is, grateful to Taz and Fae for providing her with a better life.
Not long after she was adopted, Taz and Fae adopted another child: Arya, an orphan like she was. Marianne quickly learned that Arya was wild and loved causing mischief. Although they have vastly different personalities for the most part, she grew to love her sister with all of her heart and even joined in on the pranks once in a while and developed a strong bond with her.
Now, Marianne is fifteen and loving life. She is currently enrolled in Cogworks, where she is a student in Homeroom Diamond and mainly focusing on her enchantment magic. She loves the school and enjoys every minute of it.

History: Theodora never knew or met her father or grandfather, both passing away before she was born. Her mother had told her that they were originally from a distant city far away from Asterath and Voxthain, where they were killed. Her mother and grandmother fled to Asterath after this, where Theodora was born. She never revealed to Theodora who or what killed her father, perhaps maybe because it was too painful for her to say. So she never asked any questions and left it at that.
For the first few years of her life, she was raised by her mother and grandmother, leaning a few skills from them, including cooking and sewing. She would often help her mother cook all of the recipes that she learned from her. She admired her mother and grandmother and became close with them.
When Theodora was five years old when her grandmother died, leaving only her and her mother to grieve. She became even more close to her mother, always relying on her for support and advice since she was the only family member that she knew.

Personality: Lacey is cunning, clever, and manipulative. She knows how to turn on the charm, a skill she uses to her advantage a lot. She's resourceful and a good liar using this to improvise a plan that doesn't work or if she gets into trouble. She can be sassy and sarcastic, using dry humor as a coping or defense mechanism. Being a spy, Lacey is always cautious and has her guard up, so she doesn't trust others easily as a result. If you do earn her trust, Lacey is an incredibly loyal friend who will stick by you and is someone that you can rely on. She can be kind, but really only to her friends and the other few people that she does trust. Regardless, it would be unwise to cross or provoke her in any way, so it's best just to steer clear from her.

History: Lacey was born to an Asterathi father and a Voxthain mother. Her father was a councilor, while her mother was a journalist. They met when her mother went to Asterath to gather information on a story she was writing. They hit it off quickly and fell in love. then before they knew it came Lacey into their lives.
Growing up, they always told her how dangerous the gangs were and to avoid them at all costs, especially Club Serpentine. Because of this, she held a strong anti-gang stance, and being the daughter of an Asterathi councilor, hoped that her father would be able to come up with a solution to permanently dissolve the gangs. Unfortunately, that never came to fruition. This frustrated Lacey, as she believed the councilors needed to step up and put more effort into abolishing the gangs so they could keep Asterath safe for everyone.
Lacey moved between Asterath and Voxthain frequently throughout her childhood, allowing her to experience life in both cities. She mostly lived in Voxthain with her grandparents though since her parents would be busy with work. She loved her grandparents dearly and grew to have a close bond with them as she spent more time at their house.
When she was six years old, Lacey's mother was pregnant. It was a difficult pregnancy, and her mother would frequently get sick, leaving Lacey and her father to take care of her. Unfortunately, when her mother went into labor, she lost her brother shortly after birth. This left Lacey and her parents distressed. The brother that she wanted was gone before she even had a chance to know him. Later in life, she decided to wear a locket with the name that they had picked out, Remy, in honor of him.
Then, a miracle happened. A year later, her mother was pregnant again and gave birth to a healthy baby girl: Lacey's sister Deondra. Lacey immediately fell in love with Deondra and grew attached to her. She was ecstatic to have the sibling that she always dreamed of. She enjoyed playing with Deondra and reading stories to her. She cherished her sister and was protective of her, wanting to make sure that she was safe and unharmed.
When Lacey was eight and Deondra was four, tragedy struck. The sisters were at their grandparents' house in Voxthain when she read the front page of the newspaper: her parents were shot and killed by two Club Serpentine members. She broke down in tears, devastated by the news. Sadness quickly became anger, though. She blamed the councilors for not doing enough to rid Asterath of the gangs, and of course Club Serpentine. She wanted revenge: she was determined to avenge her parents, find the two Club Serpentine members that killed them, and have justice served, even if it meant personally killing the two Snakes herself. Lacey wasn't the kind and bubbly girl her family knew anymore. No, this was a different Lacey. One that was cruel, determined, and bent on revenge.
Her and her sister stayed in Voxthain with their grandparents afterwards. Since Deondra was so young when their parents died, she didn't remember them. But Lacey always told stories about them to her to keep their memory strong. She told her how hard they worked to provide for them and how kind and intelligent they were. Although Deondra expressed how she wished she could've known them more, she was grateful to Lacey for her stories about them.
While at Cogworks, Lacey discovered that she had an affinity for magic and fighting, two skills that proved to be useful to her later on. When she was sixteen, she visited Asterath when she discovered the fighting ring. Impressed by her fighting skills, she was invited to join, which she agreed to. She made more frequent trips to Asterath after this, never telling her grandparents or sister the true reason for her trips there, knowing well enough that they wouldn't approve of it.
A year after joining the fighting ring, Lacey ran across a member of the Arachnia gang. While not as dangerous as Club Serpentine, she was still cautious, remembering her parents' advice about the gangs long ago. After conversing with the Spider for a while, they asked Lacey if she wanted to join. Although hesitant, she agreed, despite her parents' and her own anti-gang views. She worked in secret without her sister or grandparents' knowledge.
After graduating from Cogworks, Lacey moved to Asterath permanently while her sister remained in Voxthain with their grandparents. She quickly rose up in the ranks among the Spiders for her skills in stealth and thievery, becoming a respected member of the Arachnia. One day, she was tasked with going undercover as a Snake and reporting their activities. Lacey immediately jumped at the opportunity, knowing this was the perfect chance to get closer to Club Serpentine and finally avenge her parents' deaths.
Sometime later, she received a message from her grandmother, explaining that her grandfather was sick and dying. Lacey immediately rushed to Voxthain, staying there for a few days so she could spend time with him. On the day her grandfather died, she asked Deondra and her grandmother to be alone with him. Not wanting to be eaten alive with guilt without her grandfather knowing, she told him the truth; that she was a member of Club Serpentine but is secretly a Spider pretending to be a Snake, as well as a member of the fighting ring, explaining her reasoning. While shocked and horrified that she put her safety in jeopardy, he said that he loved her and was proud of her. She was relieved, knowing that she didn't feel guilty lying to him. That was the last conversation she had with her grandfather before he passed away.
Now at 19, Lacey still works undercover and frequents the fighting ring, even when she doesn't have a match, just to watch. She still keeps in touch with Deondra and her grandmother, as she still loves them and worries about them. She even adopted a cat, whom she named Mika, after finding her alone in the alleyways of Asterath one night. In her undercover work, she goes by the code name 'Starlight' in honor of her and her father's love of gazing at the stars together when she was a child. She uses her name, Lacey Reinhart, among the Spiders, but uses the alias Sierra Fox, opting to go by her middle name around the Snakes and fighting ring and crafting a new last name for herself. And while she hasn't found her parents' killers yet, she'll never stop and rest until they're brought to justice.

History: Camila Mauve was born to Asterathi and Voxthain parents, into the noble Stormvale house. The youngest of three children, Camila admired her siblings Catalina and Xavier, looking up to them and wanting to be like them. Though not extremely close to them like her siblings are with each other, she grew to love them equally.
Camila would visit Asterath frequently throughout her childhood, experiencing what the city was like. She realized how dangerous it could be with the gangs running around, so she would always be cautious and stay alert. As a result of this, she disliked the gangs and wanted to bring an end to them, though she knew that there wasn't much that she could do in that regard. Despite the strained relationship that the sister cities had, she wanted the people of Asterath to be free from the gangs and not have to worry about them and their own safety.
She was enrolled in Cogworks as a child, focusing mainly on enchantment magic. While not the most magically gifted or powerful student, she did learn to use what she knew well. She wasn't extremely popular either, but she did have some friends at school, which she was grateful for. Given her family's bloodline, she strived to make friendships with children from both Asterath and Voxthain. By doing this, she hoped to have her friends get along with each other, even if they were from different cities and embrace their differences.
Despite having her siblings, Camila felt lonely at times since she wasn't as close to them as Catalina and Xavier were with each other. She loved going outside and being around animals, They kept her company at times when she needed it. As a result, she grew fond of animals and liked to conjure them occasionally when she felt like it.
Camila recently turned eighteen and graduated from Cogworks. She's unsure of what she wants to do for the rest of her life, but for now she's not too concerned about that. She's just enjoying life and going with the flow. Though there were a few times that she considered running for councilor in Voxthain, even though she dislikes the political aspect of the job. She believes that as a councilor, she could try to help improve the relationship between Asterath and Voxthain. But, maybe, in her mind, there are other ways to help besides becoming a councilor some day.

History: Min-Ji was born into a lesser-known noble family in Voxthain. Though her family wasn't as powerful as other noble families like the Delocroixs, Calicos, or Seaveys, she still enjoyed a life of luxury as a child. Her parents adored her, giving her whatever she wanted. Despite being spoiled, Min-Ji never acted like it. She was compassionate towards others and never thought less of anyone who had a lower status than her.
Min-Ji was enrolled in Cogworks when she was child, focusing mainly on evocation, as it was her strongest magic. While she was a good student, most subjects didn't interest her. There was one that piqued her interest out of all the others, though; history. She loved the subject, finding it fascinating. Every day after school, she would go into the library of her family's estate to find and read every history book that she could find. She always looked forward to her history classes at school.
When she was sixteen, Min-Ji's father died following a few health issues. Her father wasn't in great physical health ever since Min-Ji was younger, and she was aware of that. Whenever he was sick, Min-Ji and her mother would help take care of him. She and her mother took her father's death hard, but especially her mother. They were to grieve together, which gave Min-Ji comfort knowing that they always had each other. Her father's death brought them closer together.
A year later, Min-Ji met her future husband at Cogworks, who was a member of the Lucke family. They hit it off quickly, both having a love of history and learning about the past. Eventually, they fell in love and began dating with her mother's approval. On the day that they graduated from Cogworks, her husband proposed to her, which she happily accepted, marrying in a small ceremony with their families together.
At twenty-two years old, Min-Ji gave birth to her first child, a son named Kyo-Hae, followed by a daughter, Mun-Hee, four years later. She loved her children dearly, wanting to give them the best life that she could. Despite feeling anxious about marrying into the Lucke family at first, she handled it with elegance and grace, trying her best to be the perfect wife for her husband. She also loved helping out in the Lucke museum in any way that she could. She was living the life that she had always dreamed of.
Then, tragedy struck. Like her father, Min-ji’s husband became ill, and his health deteriorated over time. She helped care for her husband and tried everything that she could think of. Unfortunately, it didn’t help him recover, and her husband passed away when she was forty-four years old. Her partner of over twenty years, gone. She was devastated and has grieved for him ever since that day.
After her husband’s death, Kyo-Hae inherited the museum and estate, with Min-Ji supporting him all the way. Though not as active in helping out in the museum, she still did whenever she could to ease the burden off Kyo-Hae. She loved how dedicated he was to researching and learning about history just like his father was. She was also glad how Mun-Hee was there for him too and happy that their bond was so strong.
A few years later, Kyo-Hae and Mun-Hee went on a research trip to Mezd Kathir. When they returned, they brought back a little girl named Mia-Aesira, whom they adopted and raised as their own daughter. Min-Ji welcomed her with open arms and was raised with love and care by Kyo-Hae and Mun-Hee. Eventually, they adopted another child from Aserath, a girl named Ranami. Their family was complete, and Min-Ji loved it.
Now, Min-Ji still helps with the museum but is not as active in it since the Lucke family hired two employees. Though she still grieves for her husband, she has slowly learned to move on and focus on his legacy with Kyo-Hae and the museum.

History: Deondra was born to an Asterathi councilor and a Voxthain journalist, four years after her older sister Lacey. She didn't remember her parents much, although she has vague flashes of them once in a while. What she knew about her parents was from Lacey, telling her various stories about them while she was growing up.
She was very young when her parents died, being only four years old at the time. She learned that they were killed by Club Serpentine from her sister, which devastated her. She and Lacey were raised by their grandparents after this, which resulted in Deedee having a close bond with them. She learned to cook and sew from her grandmother, which she enjoyed, as it was another way for her get closer to her.
Ater their parents' deaths, Deedee noticed that her sister began changing. Lacey became more quiet and reserved, and wasn't as bubbly as she usually was. She also noticed that Lacey had developed a bit of a mean streak and would sometimes get angry if someone provoked her the wrong way. This worried Deedee, as she knew that this wasn't like her sister. When she asked Lacey one day that if she was okay, she told her in a kind, gentle voice that she was alright and didn't need to worry about her. Deedee knew that she was lying, but she didn't ask again, as she didn't want to upset her sister.
By the time Dedee was twelve, Lacey started to make frequent trips to Asterath. When she and her grandparents asked where she was going while there, Lacey simply stated that she would visit other family members who lived in the underground city. They believed her and didn't question her further. While Lacey did partially tell the truth, she didn't reveal the full truth to them; that she was also a member of the fighting ring.
When Lacey graduated from Cogworks, she moved to Asterath, with Dedee and their grandparents assuming that she went to live with family there, unaware that Lacey joined the Arachniads as a double agent and went undercover as a Snake. Deedee was always excited when her sister came to visit her and their grandparents, enjoying chatting and spending time with her.
One day, her grandfather fell ill, and his health began to worsen over time. Lacey came to visit after hearing the news from their grandmother, spending as much time with him as she could. Their grandfather passed away shortly after, and Deedee took it hard, as she was very close to him. With Lacey not being around much, she and her grandmother began to lean on each other for support since it was only them together now.
Deedee is currently attending Cogworks, where she is a student in Homeroom Amethyst. She had befriended some of the students, and is grateful for having them in her life, finding another support system in them. Lacey still visits once in a while, and Deedee and her grandmother are still blissfully unaware of her activities in the gangs and fighting ring.

Sera attended Cogworks as a child, discovering that she had a natural talent for evocation magic. She made friends with some of the students there, including Megan Avanzini. Cogworks was a great experience for Sera, having great friends and being able to master her magic was the perfect blend of socialization and education for her.
Growing up, Sera's parents enrolled her and Venus in private music lessons, developing a love and passion for music as a result. Venus learned how to play the piano and violin, while Sera learned the guitar and flute. When she was thirteen, Megan and some of her other friends formed a band while they were in Cogworks. Megan convinced Athena Delacroix, whom Sera befriended later on, her to let Sera join. She loved being in a band, as it allowed for her to release her creativity with music outside of her lessons.
Shortly after Sera graduated from Cogworks at eighteen, Venus ran for a position on the council after their mother stepped down to retire. Sera was extremely happy and proud of Venus after she was elected and took their mother's place, knowing that this was her sister's dream. While they're as close since, they still love each other, sending messages to each other often to keep in contact with each other.
After Venus's election, Sera thought about her own future. While she did love being in the band and performing, she wanted to do more. Besides music, she also had a love for writing and enjoyed creating stories as a child. This inspired her to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a journalist. So, she decided to take action. She applied for a position as a journalist and was accepted for the job. This made Sera ecstatic, allowing her to fulfill her dream.
Now, Sera works as a journalist while still performing in the band, playing the guitar and occasionally helping Athena write songs for their performances. History: Ember was born with Grimcroft blood. Her mother Miriam was a member of the Coven and the Star Tamer. From an early age, Miriam trained Ember so that she could become the next Star Tamer when she retired. Being her parents' only child, they doted on her and did their best to raise her with kindness and care. When her parents married, her mother decided to keep her last and pass it on to Ember to emphasize her Grimcroft lineage.
Despite her mother's kindness, Miriam was also rather strict, having high expectations for her to be Star Tamer just like her, which was why she opted to train Ember in the art of magic herself instead of enrolling her in Cogworks. Miriam taught Ember everything that she knew and discussed the role of the Star Tamer with her. Having learned about the Star Tamer's duties, Ember invested in all of the time that she had to learn many different types of magic. Because this, Ember and Miriam grew to have a strong bond with each other.
As she got older, Ember knew that her mother would plan on retiring at any time. Though she felt pressured to carry on her mother's legacy, she studied magic day and night to live up to her mother's expectations. Ember had always admired Miriam for her kindness, wisdom, and work ethic. She wanted to make her proud and prove that she was worthy of becoming the next Star Tamer.
Miriam was impressed with Ember's progression of magic. She had a mutual respect for her daughter and recognized that she was working hard. She had Ember watch her so she could experience the work of her future role. Despite being trained to fill her mother's role, Ember initially had no interest in becoming Star Tamer, feeling that it was too much pressure for her to meet Miriam's expectations. But after seeing her mother work, she became more interested in wanting to help the initiates in any way that she could.
When Ember was twenty-eight years old, her mother retired from the Coven, leaving her to become Star Tamer now. She was anxious at first, worried that she wouldn't be able to fill her mother's shoes and fail as Star Tamer. Slowly over the years though, Ember adapted to being the new Star Tamer and was able to gain respect from the rest of the Coven.
Ember still fulfills her duties as Star Tamer with elegance and grace and shares mutual respect for the rest of the Coven. While she's enjoying her role to the best of her ability, she carefully watches over the initiates to see if any of them are worthy of becoming Star Tamer someday.

Growing up, Elena learned how to dance from her mother and took classes at her studio. As a result, she developed a love for it and became a talented dancer. She practiced dancing every day, even outside of her mother's classes. Dancing gave her a feeling of exhilaration and freedom, and it gave her a way to express herself.
Since her father was a Night Rider, Elena would be around him and the rest of the gang whenever her mother was busy with work. Theresa had no interest in joining, as they didn't suit her lifestyle. Elena grew to love life in the Night Riders, even though she didn't join them on missions at the time. She liked how more relaxed and carefree they were compared to Club Serpentine and the Arachniads and they fit her personality more than the other gangs.
When she was fourteen, Elena became a full-fledged member of the Night Riders and went out on her first mission. While nervous at first, the thrill and excitement of it all made her happy and didn't regret it. Unfortunately, it meant that she saw her mother less and less, though she still visited and communicated with her when she could. She became closer to her father since she became a member, viewing it as a positive in that sense.
When she was sixteen, Elena went out on a mission with her father and older brother Tristian, who was also a member of the Night Riders. During the mission, Tristian was injured, forcing them to retreat so they could treat his wound. After the incident, her brother decided to leave the Night Riders, not wanting to put himself or his family in jeopardy again. While Elena was sad to see Tristian leave. she understood and respected his decision and wished him well.
Elena is still a member of the Night Riders and loves every minute of it. She enjoys going on missions with her father, who is still a member as well. Tristian is currently a musician and has been since he left the gang, performing in both Asterath and Voxthain. Elena sometimes sneaks out to watch his performances to show support for her brother.

Personality: Akhila is a clever and cunning woman. She is resourceful, quick on her feet, and a fighter. She has become very skilled with thievery, weapons and self-defense, skills she learned while in the Arachniads. She can be quite ruthless, but only if she or her fellow gang members feel threatened. Akhi is also very brave and determined, and despite her cautious nature, she also makes the occasional risky decision. Akhila can be kind but typically doesn't show it nor does she express her emotions in generally much. She can also be stubborn and will try her best to achieve her goals. Her stubbornness sometimes gets her into trouble, but Akhi usually gets out of it without incident with her charm.

History: Akhila was born into a poor family in Asterath. Her parents tried the best that they could to provide her and her brothers with a comfortable life, but it was difficult when they didn't have much. Akhi was aware of this, even as a child, and appreciated their efforts to help her and her brothers. She had grown to admire them and looked up to them from an early age.
Akhila's mother became ill and passed away when she was seven years old. Her father was heartbroken and distressed afterwards, though he tried his best to raise his children alone. Akhi was worried about him, as she noticed that he struggled to care for them without the support of her mother. He would dismiss her though and say he was okay, but Akhi knew that he was lying to make her feel better. She wanted to help him, but there wasn't much that she could do.
Around the time that she was a teenager, Akhila's father fell ill and his health declined. When she was fifteen, her father passed away, leaving her and her brothers to mourn together. With their parents gone, Akhila helped raise her brothers, trying to be the best sister that she could be.
After her father's death, Akhi and her brothers moved into their grandparents' house. Her family's situation didn't improve much, and her grandparents struggled to provide for them. Realizing this, Akhi started to steal valuable items in order to help her family. She knew that it was wrong, but she truly felt that it was the best way to support them.
Every night, she would sneak out to steal items from wealthier Asterath citizens, which her illusion magic became very useful for. The next morning, she would trade the goods for food and other necessary supplies for her family. As she began to bring more to her family, they began to question her on how she obtained the items. Akhi simply stated that she had belongings that she felt would be valuable to others and traded her own possessions. Her family never questioned it again about it. She hated lying to them, but she knew that it would break their hearts if they found out she resorted to thievery to help them.
She was always cautious, strategizing and calculating each plan to make sure that she wouldn't get caught. One night though, she did. Two mysterious figures had approached her. She was worried, afraid that she would get in trouble after all of these years of being so careful. But before Akhila could get a chance to explain herself. the two figures simply laughed it off and said that they were impressed. Confused, Akhi wanted to know what was going on.
The two people, a man and a woman, revealed that they were members of the Arachniad looking for new members to recruit. Acknowledging that she was a skilled thief, they wanted her to join the gang. Although hesitant at first, Akhila agreed. She was now an official member of the Archiniads.
Akhila now works for the Archniads, her family still unaware of that fact. She became respected member of the gang for her skills in thievery. She misses her family and thinks about them sometimes, but she tries to not dwell on it too much. Akhi visits her family once in a while, but she considers the Spiders her second family.

She is determined and headstrong, which can lead to stubbornness. She will do what she believes is right, even if clouds her judgement at times. One of Charlotte's strengths is her empathy. History: Charlotte was born into the Devoe family, one of Voxthain's older noble families. Her parents had high expectations for her and her siblings, placing emphasis on marrying into other noble families. Much like her siblings, she was determined to make her parents proud meeting this expectation.
Charlotte was enrolled in Cogworks, realizing that she had a natural affinity for enchantment magic, which became her main focus. She worked closely with her enchantment and astronomy, making sure that was practicing and perfecting her enchantment magic. Though she knew that her parents wanted her to marry after she graduated Cogworks, Charlotte wasn't too concerned about that at the moment. She was focused on her studies and doing well in school.
That was, until she met a boy named Matthew when she was twelve years old. They became fast friends, which slowly blossomed into a romance over the course of three years. Knowing that her parents wouldn't approve of Matthew due to his commoner blood, they kept the relationship a secret for a year. Charlotte had her parents fooled, At least, that was what she thought.
When she came home from school one day when she was sixteen, she was confronted about Matthew, somehow figuring out their relationship. Charlotte got into a heated argument with her parents, expressing frustration that they didn't want her to be happy with him. They threatened to disown her if she didn't break up with Matt. To her parents' shock she refused, saying that she would rather be happy with Matt, not caring that she would be cut off from the rest of the family. They told her that once she turned eighteen, she was officially disowned since she didn't agree to break up with Matt.
The day Charlotte graduated from Cogworks was when she was disowned. She packed her things, said farewell to her family, and left the Devoe estate, never turning back. While she was somewhat regretful for her decision, she was glad that her and Matt were still together. After this, Charlotte and Matt moved into an apartment together, living happily.
Charlotte and Matthew married when they were twenty-two in a private ceremony with just Matt's family. None of Charlotte's family attended, which saddened her, but her new husband and his family were her family now, so she didn't dwell on it too much.
There was one family member that supported Charlotte through everything; her sister Evelyn, who Charlotte found out married into the Delacroix family. Evelyn is the only person in her family who she frequently still has contact with to this day, though to an extent some of her other family members as well. She found out that her sister was almost disowned when she dated a commoner as well, but Evelyn broke off the relationship. They bonded over this and shared their anger at their parents for cutting off Charlotte.
When she was twenty-five, Charlotte applied to be the new enchantment and astronomy teacher and got the job. She's been a teacher at Cogworks for twenty years and has loved every single minute of it. She enjoys working with and helping the students and her teacher's assistant Megan. She wishes that she could talk to the rest of her family, but she tries not to dwell on it too much.

Personality: On the surface, Xinyi is a calm, cool, and collected person. She can come across as cold and intimidating, especially to those she doesn't know. She is introverted and doesn't open up to others that much. However, she's more open, social, and comfortable around those she knows and is more friendly and kind to them. Due to her past, she somewhat has trust issues, though she doesn't lack total trust in others. Once you prove yourself, you will earn Xinyi's trust and her friendship. She is loyal and very protective of the ones that she loves and cares for and is willing to stand up for them if she feels the need to. Xinyi opposes violence and isn't much of a confrontational person, but she is not afraid to resort to it, only if it's absolutely necessary, especially when it comes to her job as a sword for the Blacklights. Due to her job, Xinyi has taught herself to be resourceful and skilled with fighting, weaponry, and magic. She is intelligent, having an affinity for science and being able to learn things quickly. Once you get to know her better, Xinyi is a kind and caring person who wants to protect Asterath from the gangs.

History: Xinyi was born the only child to Liu Haoyu and Wang Jiali, being fortunate enough to live in the wealthier side of Asterath. Her parents had a rocky marriage, resulting in her mother to sometimes drink as a way to handle the stress that she faced. Because of this, Xinyi had a strained relationship with her mother and disapproved of her drinking. Occasionally, Jiali drank to the point of being drunk, leading to even bigger fights with Haoyu. Xinyi did not like this side of her mother. A drunk Jiali was an angry Jiali, and she was terrified of her mother when this happened and would hide in her room until Jiali was sober again. When she was sober, her mother was a completely different person. She was a kind, caring, and devoted mother, always making sure that Xinyi was safe. Not when she was drunk.
Cogworks was an escape for Xinyi. She was always glad to be at school so she could avoid witnessing the fights between her parents and her mother’s drunk behavior. When she would return home, it was as if nothing had happened and everything was normal. She knew that it wasn’t normal, though. Her parents were just trying to protect her so that she could have as normal of a childhood as she could. Not that she did anyway. She admired her father growing up, forming a close bond with him and was amazed at how he handled her mother’s behavior. When she asked him how one day, he simply smiled and said, “it’s because I love her.” Xinyi would never forget what he told her that day.
Writing was another way for Xinyi to cope with her family life. She loved to create stories, writing versions of herself and the rest of her family in the way that she wanted them to be; normal and happy. When not studying for school or had free time, she would toil away in her notebook, writing stories at any chance she got. The stories that she came up with made her happy and they made her wish that she could be in them so she wouldn’t have to deal with her mother. But they made being able to handle her more bearable thanks to her imagination. She never shared these stories to her or her father, as they knew that it would upset them if they knew that she wasn’t happy.
One day, when Xinyi was ten years old, something unexpected happened. Jiali revealed to her and her father that she was pregnant. With twins. Xinyi was ecstatic, having always wanted brothers and sisters. But one look at her father’s face said it all; he was furious, knowing that he wasn’t the father. He immediately demanded an explanation. Jiali revealed that she had been at the Neon Cogs Saloon a month prior and met a man named David, whom she later found out was a member of Club Serpentine. They both got drunk and had an affair, resulting in her accidental pregnancy. Xinyi was shocked and heartbroken. She couldn’t believe that her mother would betray her and her father like that. After everything they’ve been through. Even if she was drunk, that wasn’t an excuse in her mind. She looked into her mother’s eyes, noticing tears stream down her face, knowing that she felt horrible and guilty about the situation. She glanced over at her father again, who remained silent as her mother spoke. Amazingly though, he had relaxed his anger. After a few moments, he finally spoke, saying that while he felt hurt, he forgave her, knowing that it was an accident. Jiali was relieved, explaining that she still loved him despite everything and promised to stop drinking. Though her relationship with her mother has improved since, she still feels hurt by her mother’s actions to this day.
Xinyi was eleven when the twins were born, a brother, Levi, and a sister, Julie. With their father not around, she and her father raised them, with Haoyu acting as their real father. Despite the circumstances of their birth, Xinyi grew to love her new siblings and helped her parents care for them. Xinyi adored her siblings’ mischief and playfulness. They made her laugh with their harmless pranks, and even her parents, who tended to be strict, found humor in the twins’ antics. In a way, their birth was a blessing for them; they brought their family together and were closer than they ever have been.
On Levi and Julie's sixth birthday, the Lius suddenly got a knock on the door. Jiali opened the door and was shocked by who it was; the twins’ father, David, who had somehow tracked down where the family lived and remembered Jiali, revealing her pregnancy to him at the time as well. He demanded that the twins be taken under his care so that he could raise them to be full-fledged Snakes. Her mother refused, disgusted at him for wanting to take them away when he wasn’t even around in their lives. He countered back, saying that it should be their decision. Xinyi, her father, and the twins overheard their conversation and went to intervene. Though heartbroken that Haoyu wasn’t their birth father, the twins refused to leave, explaining that Haoyu was more of a father to them then David would ever be and actually cared for them, unlike him. David, though clearly angry, respected their decision and promptly left, stating that the offer was still there should they decide to join the Snakes later on.
Xinyi graduated from Cogworks a year after that incident. She worked at a newspaper company for a few years, remembering her passion for writing and creating stories. When she was twenty years old, Xinyi decided to make one of the stories that she wrote from her childhood to life. By working with one of her coworkers, she was able to edit and publish the story under a pseudonym, Jennifer Zhang. This was one of proudest moments of her life, being able to fulfill her dream of publishing a story.
One day, when Xinyi was returning home from work, she ran into a familiar face; it was David, whom she remembered when he wanted to raise Levi and Julie as Snakes from a few years prior. And he remembered her too. After talking with him briefly, he explained that since she left home, he came by a few more times to convince the twins to join the Snakes and they still refused. But the last time, he revealed to her that he threatened to kill her unless Julie and Levi joined. Not wanting to lose their sister, they reluctantly agreed. This infuriated Xinyi and she left, heartbroken that, in her eyes, she lost her siblings to the Snakes.
A few days later, someone approached Xinyi on her way to work. They revealed that they overheard her conversation with David and offered her a spot in the Blacklights as a sword for Club Serpentine. She agreed, wanting to bring justice to the man and gang that tore her family apart.
Shortly after this, she left the newspaper company that she worked for and applied to be a teacher's assistant at Cogworks and was accepted, assigned with the Homeroom Emerald teacher. She loved working with the teacher and students, and the added bonus that Julie and Levi were in Homeroom Emerald as well. To this day, Xinyi still works at Cogworks, keeping an eye on the twins so that they don't cause chaos and end up being on her list of Snakes to kill.

Clarissa's Relationship TrackerPhoebe Clairmont (NPC): Clarissa's mother is the only person that she keeps in contact with outside of the Snakes. She's also the only person that she has a soft spot for and whom brings out the kindness in Clarissa. She worries for her mother and will do anything to make sure that she's safe. While she confides in Phoebe about almost everything, she hasn't told her mother that she joined Club Serpentine, afraid that she will feel hurt and betrayed by her own daughter.
Jonas Clairmont (NPC): Clarissa despises her uncle with all of her heart, though they were somewhat close when she was a child. She will never forgive him for what he did to her father and hasn't spoken to him since her father's death except for one conversation. Honestly, if the Snakes somehow found out about him and personally ordered her to kill him, she would do it with no hesitation.
