FYI, current codename tabs for each team have been updated. The following columns, J-K, will now look like:

Column J, BR/BOTM/None—New dropdown menu for your books.
Column K, BR/BOTM Points—Now calculates both BR and BOTM points accordingly.

I can agree with that, I do still find the Belgariad series to be a fun romp, but things get bogged down as he wrote more and more.

The Rivan Codex is a pretty good primer for people who want to write high (ish) fantasy though.

His last series (written just before, and after his wife died) took a serious dip down in quality and had one of the most enraging endings of any series I've read.

Oh, yes! I couldn't finish the Dreamers series because it was so irritatingly silly. Like that annoying Aphrael in the Elenium & Tamuli only a whole series full of them. I might have enjoyed them as a kid, though, could I have ploughed through those massive tomes. Are you willing to share the enraging ending?

Definitely, especially since it was one of the few books I actually chucked away (onto the couch not across the room but still) I raged to my husband for weeks about it!

(view spoiler)[Ultimately they go through the whole quest, get through all of the trials and tribulations. Have amazing friendships build, great stories to tell their future progeny, then in the last half of a chapter they hit a macguffin of some sort that sends them back in time before all the bad happened, and everyone gets their happy ending that they would have gotten if the bad never existed. So the dude who's fiance died, yeah, he marries her because the thing that killed her didn't exist anymore.

So all of the relationships, all of the story building, all of the quest... never happened. And the main goddess ends the story basically saying "I'll remember it for them".

That's great... WHY DID WE HAVE THE STORY IF IT ULTIMATELY NEVER HAPPENS EXCEPT IN ONE CHARACTER'S MEMORIES?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I actually enjoyed the way the story was told by swapping POV characters, going back to their beginning, up to the last point of the previous POV and then continuing, I thought it was great that they included some antagonists too, and showed that they weren't just evil, they had beliefs and truly thought they were right.

To finish it with "it was all a dream"... yeah, I don't know if I'll ever get over that one. (hide spoiler)]
