Play Book Tag discussion

I bought a copy of this book as soon as it was released as I loved Vienna when I spent time there, and I was intrigued by the description. Unfortunately, this book was a bit disappointing. I love historical fiction, and I have read and enjoyed lots of espionage stories, but this one felt just a little too bland, and the romance played too large a role. There was clearly a lot of research put into Vienna and Prague following the end of WW2, and so I got a real sense of the places and the local people. However, the plot just seemed to plod along and yet move around so much, and I was not fully engaged with it, and the main characters were just so entitled and mainly one dimensional that I found I could not feel any empathy for them. Overall, the book didn’t hold my attention, and I am not planning on reading any other books by this author.
