prologue- chapter 3

Right from the get go I can tell this is going to be more comedic than I was expecting and I’m not mad at it. I’ve never read a serial killer Rom com but there’s a first time for everything.

I’m glad that they’re serial killers that kill awful people lol. The concept of a competition is interesting. I hope we get a lot of banter in this one, it’s the vibes I’m getting. Oh and I do love an Irish man….

How’re you enjoying so far?

Kalena | 31 comments prologue- chapter 3 -

I have also been enjoying the humor already, it's different than I thought this book to be but I also can't complain! I think the humor will lighten the load a little on the book.

This is my first foray into dark romance, and so reading the trigger warnings was a lot, but it's also been on my tbr forever so I am morbidly curious & want to get it off my tbr haha!

Both main characters are interesting so far, but Rowan is...nicer? Than I thought he would be. I'm not complaining, I think it's interesting they are killing horrible people and I'm intrigued to see where this goes from here.

Do you enjoy the characters?

Kalena | 31 comments chapter 4 - 7

Huh, I'm still entertained as I feel like I've never read a book like this before, but it feels like the first climax just happened. No idea where the book is going to go from here, but it's definitely still funny.

I am intrigued to see where else they travel, and what happens in between the annual competition.

Kalena | 31 comments chapter 8-11

this book is actually making me laugh and I don't laugh that often in books, so it's been a fun time so far! not much to say this time besides I'm enjoying it, even if sometimes it also feels a little weird

Wasn't planning on reading and definitely wasn't planning if I do read to pick something up I haven't seen or heard off, but catching Sophie's comment that this might be comedic, and a serial killer rom-com... I was intrigued, so here I am.

1-11
The opening line "Being a serial killer who kills serial killers is a great hobby…" just *chef's kiss*
It's easy to read/listen to, and going in with low expectations, like even though it's about serial killers it's chill, made me like the first chapter. If I thought this was supposed to be a serious book I probably would've been ?? what the hell, you just met someone and poof tell them not only your name, but that you are a serial killer too and your "work name".

I didn't comment as I read the chapters so I'm just gonna spill things now.
* I expected more development on...anything to be honest. We don't know much about the characters, or how they got to be what they are. I mean we did get a glimpse into Sloan, but not into Rowan, again I think that's too little for what, half a book, that we already read.
* The only thing that the book is putting effort and accent is their relationship which ... cute. But kinda feel weird that already 2 years passed since we started reading the book and nothing *much* has happened with them.
* Found the second annual killing more fun than the first one, although the first one had a big importance for their relationship.

Kalena | 31 comments chapter 12-15

that chapter was a weird one and it didn't feel like...good to read it? I'm not sure how much development we're also going to get out of the characters as they seem to be meeting very sporadically.

there are still moments where this book is funny, I just don't know how many more times I can see them do a "killing" and then immediately stop talking after. i want some more connection!

12-17

Yeah, I'm not expecting development anymore.

*Why didn't she just tell him that the killer has cameras set up? That's a pretty big thing to just not share... although after finishing the chapter I see that it wasn't of any importance.

* Well.. at least they got to it

18-end

* 😂 are you kidding me? So 3 months have passed since they've been together where they admitted to each other that they don't just like each other.. but now at the diner she has the realization it not just "more than like"

* His way of getting her out of the restaurant... ouch. he could've been a tad less mean.

* David.. that one was really unexpected. And I must say I reeeeally LOVE it how the brother couldn't find out anything about him in the previous months but boom now, in those 12 blocks she was running, he got a bunch of info.

*I can't say I'm disappointed, but I also can't say this was great. It started interesting but, it needed much more for it to keep my interest. I do have to say that I'm a little intrigued on how things will go on; the separate stories, and the new killer that's in the game. Whose brother do you think it is? At first I was oh damn, there a bunch of killed killers, and then as I was typing my thoughts I thought David, it has to be David... but... Sloane killed David.
And the more I think of it... he only killed the first guy, right? The wall guy. Because after that it has always been Sloan to finish the job.

Kalena | 31 comments chapter 15-end

~ i do think this book was interesting overall and I was generally entertained, but my rating is at about 4 stars right now because there wasn't a lot of development or anything else. i also wasn't feeling like it was great, but I am interested by that final chapter!

~ I am thinking it's the first guy, or maybe someone else we haven't met yet that Rowan has killed in the past as it was mentioned there's been other jobs before he met Sloane

~ I did say I was really surprised by David as well, it was a bit convenient but I'm glad there was a bit of one twist I did not see coming at all haha

Hmmmm, I haven't thought about the possibility of the brother being someone before Sloan. That's possible. I was just thinking it has to be someone in the period they met because we didn't see much of their past.. but then again we didn't see much of their private lives as we read... like, what does Sloan do, what's her job? It was dropped out of the blue that she works, and she travels for the job but what is it.. I have no idea. Maybe it was mentioned once.

Yeah, at least we got surprised by David, although the surprise was because there were no real hints about a murderer going after them or whatever.. but ok, we'll take it.

That's why I was thinking it had something to do with what came before they met, because I feel if it's meant to be a plotline in the next book it would be too obvious to be the first guy. But, maybe that's also the point since the next book focuses on Lachlan and not Rowan and Sloane again.
