When you say “the author’s” future… do you mean NOT a fictionalized world but a reimagining of the real world (such as in running man?)
Thanks for the suggestion, will check it out! Good question: I mean either projection as in Running Man or more imaginary. Also projections into the past can be fascinating, such as Connie Willis's All Clear: Love hoe she shows the silence of the Middle Ages except for all the bells.

I have to say the Scythe Series by Neil Shusterman. Currently reading it and i am in love, dystopian world fixed around death and ughhh just written beautifully!

This question came to mind because I just finished Richard Bachman's (pseudonym for Stephen King) "Running Man," and it was fascinating to see how SK predicted that the future would be.
