What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

This is literally all I have. It was painful in some way for this character to access these abilities. I feel like the book was written in the ‘80s from the general vibe of it. I wish I could remember more, it’s driven me mad for decades. Possibly aimed at young adult readers but I’m not sure. It had a similar feel to those early stand alone Terry pratchett sci fis and I think came out around the same time. I used to think it was one of his, but no. I would say a bit darker and less humorous than his writing. HELP!

To the best of your knowledge, was this this ever made into a movie? Asking because I feel that I have watched a movie before that mentions something called the nothing".

No idea! It might have been? It might not have even been called the nothing in the book, I could be misremembering. Could have been the nowhere or something else similar 😬

I know "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende has "the nothing" and it did come out at around that time. Their world is breaking up. The book is different from the movie in that the movie ends at the first half of the book. The second half has ships and traveling and the MC. Maybe? The Neverending Story

It is definitely not neverending story but I’d never read it, so I enjoyed it! More of a standard spaceship sci fi and not written for children, although might have been whatever they called YA in the 80s & 90s
