Been listening to this and enjoying it... not much to say...

I just kinda love how DI Adams has this whole secret life outside the Beaufort Scales books, and prefers dealing with supes without the TWI tramping around causing a ruckus, lol...

RachelG. | 1294 comments Finished: (view spoiler)

RachelG. | 1294 comments She doesn't have the WI to turn to for help though. I felt bad for her because she seems a bit on her own.

Yea... that should get better in the next book... I think Manor of Life and Death happens between books, and her cop partner learns the truth...

Nirkatze | 21171 comments Read this yesterday and enjoyed. I'd really like her to meet up with Gobbelino & co. Casey? Corey? Forgot the dude's name. I kept thinking that this was seriously reminding me of that series more than the Beaufort Scales one... more on his side of the supernatural scene, with (view spoiler)

Narilka | 5719 comments I started this one. Through Ch 3 (view spoiler)

I was wondering given the setting if Adams would run into anyone from the Gobbelino series. Sounds like not yet. Bummer.

Nirkatze | 21171 comments She might've. I don't remember anyone's name except for Gobbelino. And Calum! That was his name. Not even that lady-cat... can't remember her name.

Narilka | 5719 comments A Beaufort question (view spoiler)

Narilka | 5719 comments Through Ch 9. I'm enjoying it. It's more of a regular police procedural. (view spoiler)

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments Narilka wrote: "A Beaufort question [spoilers removed]"

I was trying to remember that too, I don't remember though....

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments Listened to this today and I was so happy (view spoiler)

message 18: by Nirkatze (new) - added it

Nirkatze | 21171 comments I also don't remember who Adams's partner is in Beaufort...

Loved all those "ladies of a certain age" references though...

Narilka | 5719 comments Through Ch 17 (view spoiler)

This is still early in Beaufort Scales ... I don't think she accepts until Manor of Life and Death

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments Is it early in Beaufort? I mean she has (view spoiler)

message 23: by Nirkatze (new) - added it

Nirkatze | 21171 comments I thought she'd've accepted around the time she got her little furry companion... was that book 3?

Manor is book 3... Dandy is end of book 2 I think... And this is between 2 & 3...

Timelord Iain | 35530 comments Mod
Book 2 is the one with the goblin mail thieves...

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments So yeah, early on in Beaufort but once she acknowledged (view spoiler) I'd say she was in lol

Timelord Iain | 35530 comments Mod
Early on she still wanted normal life... Later she's like what are you dragging me into this time?

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments She still gets frustrated when the ladies of the WI do dumb shit and interfere in her investigations lol

Narilka | 5719 comments Timelord Iain wrote: "This is still early in Beaufort Scales ... I don't think she accepts until Manor of Life and Death"

According to this page https://kmwatt.com/pages/reading-orde... this book takes places after events in Manor.

Narilka | 5719 comments What's really bugging the crap out of me is (view spoiler)

Thank you for coming to my rant. I think I need a competence porn book after this lol

Nirkatze | 21171 comments I hear you! I was just thinking on same lines--please let us be through this block now and the next books starting with open eyes!

BTW, we don't have a thread for #4--do we want one?

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments I mean do we need to think about a Beaufort re-read? lol

message 33: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35530 comments Mod
Me and Rachel discussed that a month ago, and I didn't want to start a chronological reread until next year when we know when the final DI Adams book is coming out...

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments Timelord Iain wrote: "Me and Rachel discussed that a month ago, and I didn't want to start a chronological reread until next year when we know when the final DI Adams book is coming out..."

I was kidding but a re-read in a year or so sounds like a plan.

Timelord Iain | 35530 comments Mod
You can't joke about things like that... Nirkatze and re-reads is like a dog hearing "it's time for a walk"...

Narilka | 5719 comments hehehe great GIF

message 38: by Nirkatze (new) - added it

Nirkatze | 21171 comments My reread enthusiasm is mostly for complex trilogies where the next/last book is out.. Beaufort Scales is... not that. I need another year at least.

But #4 DI Adams, do we want a thread?

Nirkatze | 21171 comments And no one has actually said if we want a thread for A Right Shambles in York or not...

Ann-Marie | 5523 comments I own it, I am enjoying the series, I am in :)

RachelG. | 1294 comments I plan to read it. Is the audio out?

You like horror... I like horror premises told in non-horror genre stories :D

Cozy horror, Urban Fantasy, LitRPG, etc...

I have plenty more examples from earlier purchases...
