On participation points - I don't really care about them either though some here do. I will say that participation points do come in handy from time to time beyond giving you some extra votes on the monthly tag choice if you want. At the end of last year, for example, Anita let us 'trade in' accumulated points that were translated into a collective donation Anita made to a literacy charity in the name of PBT - it was quite a substantial one. We've also had challenges where you can 'pay with participation points' for something advantageous to you in the challenge.

I agree. Fun to me is ridiculous. So Discworld, Zombies and Amish Vampires/Zombies in Space are all possibles for me. Just something slightly insane that wouldn't happen irl. What I enjoy is survival books but I couldn't call that fun........Bring on a bit of insanity.

I agree. What Anita did with the points last year was truly wonderful and definitely a charity worth supporting. It's well worth collecting points if they can help others.

Thank you everyone and just a nod to last year's sponsor of our Reading Is Fundamental donation, Nicole, who made it extra amazing!! But I do plan to continue the tradition this year for sure.

Speaking of reading related donations, there have been reports about a loss of federal funding for libraries. There are letter writing campaigns and fundraising efforts already. It’s posted on another GR group and Robin said she got a letter from her library about it. I participated in a letter writing campaign and made a donation.
Universities and med schools are also scrambling.

I'm just learning the ropes, so thank you. To be honest, participation points are not really my cup of tea, but I understand how they can be useful to encourage engagement
