Kyann Morgan | 61 comments I don't know what it is, but I keep reading books that are 3 stars or below, on occasion 4 stars, but hardly 5. I have a long TBR list but can't seem to choose a book from it.

Can anyone recommend a book, series, whatever you choose, that went above your expectation to me? If you could have given them 6 stars, you would?

Title and author of book (any genre at this point), please and thank you!

Meghan Nightshade | 267 comments The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton This book literally is everything. I love it with all of my heart.

Four Years Trapped in My Mind Palace by Johan Twiss My grandma knows the author, and he's so nice! I loved this book, and it's such a sweet story!

message 3: by Kyann (new)

Kyann Morgan | 61 comments @Meghan I will definitely try the first one, I am not sure about the second. It doesn't seem like something I would read sadly. But thank you for your recommendations!

gabby | 287 comments When Among Crows, by veronica roth!! it's an urban fantasy novella and only like 166 pages. going into it I didn't expect much, but girl it COMPLETELY blew me away. I'm obsessed with this series now and counting down the days until the sequel is released.

message 5: by Kyann (new)

Kyann Morgan | 61 comments @gabby I'll be honest, I'm very picky with fantasy. I'm not sure if I'll read this one because of the way he or she wrote the description. I can already tell I won't like the way it is written. And I am already struggling with the names of everything and haven't even read the book, same thing for Lightlark when I tried it. If I can't make a difference between names and places I tend to leave. Thank you for the suggestion though. This is also for anyone who wants to recommend so they can get a small taste of what I like and dislike. Sorry, don't want to offend.

message 6: by Elara (new)

Elara Oh, so you’re on the lookout for something "mind-blowing"? Gotcha. Let me hit you with this:
Then She Was Gone is a thriller that will have you thinking you’ve cracked the case, only to realize you’re the punchline of the joke. It’s a brain-bender, trust me—you’ll never guess what happens next. Ever.

Now, if you want romance that won’t make you want to throw your book across the room, Kiss an Angel is your answer. It’s sweet, a little spicy, and doesn’t make you want to scream “SERIOUSLY?!” at the characters. Imagine that.

And for some Ana Huang-level sass and steam, Devious Lies will give you all the hot mess you’re secretly craving. Drama, spice, and mystery? Yes, please.

Enjoy the ride. You’re welcome.

Kristina | 300 comments Hi!
I’m also very picky about fantasy reads, and the only author whose writing did not disappoint me is Leigh Bardugo, but not Shadow and Bone, try the Ninth House if you’re more serious, or Six of Crows if you like complex fantasy and adventure, I’ve been looking for something remotely similar to her style or stories but still no luck.
My other favorite fantasy is Hollow Heathens by Nicole Fiorina.
😊

message 8: by Kyann (new)

Kyann Morgan | 61 comments @elara I’ll definitely give them a try. Love the enthusiasm and entry ❤️. The last one sounded fantastic!

message 9: by Kyann (new)

Kyann Morgan | 61 comments @Kristina I have heard some of those names. I’ll give them a try! Thanks for the suggestions! Fantasy is a picky subject for me, Romantasy is worse lol

☆Goofing On Silk Road☆ | 18 comments Not a lot of people know this series but I’m IN LOVE with it🥹🫶❤️ the bone witch trilogy is amazing!! The romance is perfect, it’s ya, fast paced and the magical fantasy elements are just right! I never got distracted when reading and if it’s something u struggle with as well, def give this series a go!!

Arielle Miller | 101 comments I know what you mean!! I feel like I read a lot of hyped up books and I'm so disappointed...

Some of my all-time favorite books include:

Red Azalea by Anchee Min (autobiography)
The Wind Up Bird Chronicle and 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami (magic realism / fictino)
Middlesex by Geoffrey Eugenides (fiction)
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (Sci Fi Fiction)

Good luck! Let us know what you read and what you think of it!!

I’m currently on the Tommen series. It’s so traumatizing that I have to read a book every couple months. 🥲

I’ve tried the series. I loved, loved, loved the first book. The novella broke my heart, but I wasn’t a fan of the third. I decided not to continue the series due to that and the author pretty much copied another author. It’s been on TikTok. 😩 So I feel like her originality wasn’t her own. You know?

I reeeeally want to read one dark window. But some people are saying it’s so boring. I’ll try it because my curiosity overpowers the bad reactions.

I’ve heard of the second one and I’m really interested because there’s so many people talking about it. I’ll give it a look real quick. Thanks!

Oooo it’s the second book! That makes sense. TikTok only shows me snippets. Sometimes they don’t give me the actual title of the book. Awesome. Thanks

step out of the orthodox into the unorthodox. the following are refreshingly enlightening and uniquely entertaining (all by the same author, DJ).
1. Uncle Tom The President; 2. Insanity Is Hereditary you get it from "Your Children;" 3. The Origin Of Words According To DJ.

I need to get into them. It was one of the first series I heard about when I started getting into reading again. I just haven’t gotten around to it.

TwistedTigg (tigg) | 52 comments id have to say please don't stop the music by Jane Lovering
Jemima Hutton is determined to build a successful new life and keep her past a dark secret. Trouble is, her jewellery business looks set to fail - until enigmatic Ben Davies offers to stock her handmade belt buckles in his guitar shop and things start looking up, on all fronts.

But Ben has secrets too. When Jemima finds out he used to be the front man of hugely successful Indie rock band Willow Down, she wants to know more. Why did he desert the band on their US tour? Why is he now a semi-recluse?

And the curiosity is mutual - which means that her own secret is no longer safe ...

ive read this book 10+ times and ive popped it on my list to read again

ya, I get it, when I read it, it seemed like a mix between Hunger Games and Red Queen to me, but I would read the 3rd one when it comes out, because I NEED to know what happens with Paedyn and Kitt.
