It would be really nice if a book's place in a series could be auto-added to all editions rather than manually entering for each edition, which obviously for some authors can take forever.

That's a really good idea!

The problem with that is that some series get renumbered when they get reprinted; also, some series are publisher-specific and wouldn't apply to all editions. But it would be a good thing to be able to manually apply.

(It will probably be a lot easier when there's a "series object" to work with, which is something that the GR team has been working on for a while.)

Two new fields, one for the name of the series and one for the number in the series would be a wonderful addition :)

Reworking series is already on the to-do list. It's just complicated, so it's further down the list.
