This is 2.5 stars rounded up. I'm not keen on Love-Inspired Suspense books as the type of writing they want is not my cup of tea, but it met a challenge. I did enjoy learning about how well-trained Airedale terriers who are excellent air-scent dogs and are used in K-9 Police, Protection Unit, Guard Dog and Military service because they can be courageous and clever.
The story begins when a mother and son attempt to escape from kidnappers while a K-9 officer and his dog are out to find them. The blurb tells you that her son is his but he doesn't know it. The story behind why he doesn't know even though she thinks he did is plausible, but honestly I don't care for the writing and the repetition of the same thoughts over and over about that until suddenly there is a breakthrough.

The pacing is good and the child is believable.
