What would you all recommend as an intro to the romantasy genre?

once upon a broken heart trilogy by stephanie garber. the writing is super easy to follow and the story is generally fast paced. i zipped through the books within a few days.

Caraval
A thousand pieces of you
Kingdom of the wicked

BUT, the prequel before that is the caraval trilogy and i love it so so much and it has consumed me as a person 😭 and it's so whimsical so you may want to try that before once upon a broken heart!!

and i would also recommend powerless by lauren roberts because it focuses more on the romance and not too much on the fantasy so it's easy to get into if you used to read only romance maybe and its generally easy to read and fast paced and has great banter!! <3

i would definitely say acotar. acotar was the first romantasy book that i read, and i got absolutely obsessed. i think it’s also a good standard for the genre as a whole, and it’s pretty well written. i will say that if you do decide to read acotar, i’d recommend reading book one and reading at least halfway through book 2 to decide if you like it <3

I started off my Romantasy books with Fourth Wing and ACOTAR. They are great series that had the spice and plot I was looking for.

Powerless might be an easier read to follow for first romantasy. It is YA but Kai Azer is not.
