What did everyone think?! Are we allowed to discuss theories?! I haven’t read anything about this book or looked anything up! The parents are OBVIOUSLY hiding something and I feel like I know what it is! Also, I think it’s really weird that the sisters apparently didn’t know that each other had the same skin disease? Well, we know Lucy didn’t know lol

Well, based on the dates it would seem that Lucy was the baby left in the cave, right? She’s 19, it’s presently 1999? And the parents are a tuall the ones who were accused of actually abandoning the baby and the ones who actually saved the baby?

yes i feel like the parents are hiding something and it is so wierd that the Lucy is only just finding out that her sister has the same skin condition. and jess questioning that her parents are even her parents. there is obviously a huge age gap, so they didnt grow up together, but the shared condition really would be something the parents would mention. i want to know the connection to the boat!!

I just feel like not being able to take a shower would be a huge thing to discuss when they had this sleepover where they talked about everything 😂 the age gap seems like it is like 20 years though? Or like 15?

wait wait did I misunderstand? I was thinking that Jess was the baby left in the cave??
I also have weird theories that Jess is actually Lucy's mom somehow..or that Jess was adopted and then got pregnant with Lucy..

Also, I'm into it, but I'm ready for some answers!

i am going to have to look back at the timeline for the cave baby to see if it might be jess or lucy!

i feel like some of the chapters are super short (14 and15) and then 19 is only 2 pages, so I would be open to reading more this time. chapter 20?

Wait. They’re sisters, right? Jess her mom??? What?! 🤯 I need more content at this point. And the back in times are throwing me a bit.. I’m not a huge fan of dual timeline books. Hope it starts giving us more! I’m good with through chapter 20!

I usually hate books that are from different viewpoints, but not minding this one!

So my theory is Jess was the baby in the cave, since baby was found in cave in 1982. I think that Lucy is Jess's bio daughter and that her bio dad is the art teacher but she was raised believing Jess to be her big sister. The diary was written in 1998 which would put Jess at 16 years old if she was the cave baby, and Lucy says the diary was written a year before she was born. I'm assuming that the parents are the people that found cave baby aka Jess. I think Mary is an ancestor of some sort who was on the boat that Lucy is dreaming of and is the convict boat that wrecked off the coast

I'm confused as to how/why she is having dreams of what Mary seems to be experiencing in the time jumps to 1800 now. I'm curious to see where it goes from here for sure

I definitely think something hapoens with the art teacher so that theory makes sense. I am also wondering what the connection will be with both Lucy and Jess experiencing the intense dreams/history of sleep walking

I'm really liking it so far though, overall. There is a lot going on, but it's not hard to follow and I think it will all come together really well!
