I'm only basing this info on Saige's comment, message 77. Could be wrong..

We could do VEGIE, A1-E1. Using G from GUMBALLS. This would get us 30 pts.

Or we could do something diabolical.

Do QUINZHEE, B2-I2. Using U from GUMBALLS. I think we would get almost 100 pts. 98 if my math is correct.

Well let's go for diabolical!

If there's ever an option for a diacolical move my vote is immediately yes!

We could do the following...

COYPU, off the Y in WEIGHT (F10-J10) for 20 pts

VODUN + EVE + OD, from N8-N12 for 21 pts.

POD + PE + OE, from H1-J1, for 24 pts.

message 169: by Brittni (new)

Brittni | 1378 comments Hm. I'm good with any. I do like that COPYU and VODUN are maybe giving us more access to the bottom of the board.

We can keep POD in mind as it's filling in a good space at the top.

message 170: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
Okay, we will need a book that works for U then.

message 171: by Brittni (new)

I'm trying to find one. I maybe need to look through my TBR and see. Too bad we can't use the first letter of a series. I have a couple that start with U, lol

message 173: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 188 comments I have a U. I'll start it now.

message 174: by Brittni (new)

Brittni | 1378 comments Woohoo! Thanks Michelle.

I don't have any currently but I'm going to keep an eye out for the future.

Some suggestions for U's that I've read if anyone is interested:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5) by J.K. Rowling - I'm reading with my son so it's a slow go. Main Character - Professor Umbridge.
Under the Surface by Diana Urban - YA, mystery, thriller - it surprised me how much I enjoyed this one. It was a fast read and the audio was great if I remember correctly.

YAY! Okay, should we go for coypu or vodun?? Reminder of where they would go and the pts below:

COYPU, off the Y in WEIGHT (F10-J10) for 20 pts

VODUN + EVE + OD, from N8-N12 for 21 pts.

We could do,

WELD, L8-L11 = 12 pts

WELD + EWE + ED, N8-N11 = 19 pts

MACKLED + NERD + NU, J9-M9 = 26 pts

UNDREW, J10-J15 = 12 pts

END + EH + NE + DE, G1-I1 = 19 pts

NERD + UN, J11-M11 = 12 pts

message 182: by Brittni (new)

Brittni | 1378 comments Thanks for posting banked books Alaina!

MACKLED seems like a great option. But I also have zero strategy for this game so I’m good with whatever makes the most sense.

We could do the following:

BIFOLD + NUB, J11-O11 = 31 pts

BOWFIN + NUB, J11-O11 = 33 pts

BOW + BE + OE, H1-J1 = 30 pts

OWN + OH + WE + NE, G1-I1 = 30 pts

INFLOW + SI, either D8-D13 or B9-B14, = 28 pts or 30 pts

INFOLD + SI, either D8-D13 or B9-B14, = 24 pts or 26 pts

FRIVOL + FE, L8-L13 = 21 pts

message 188: by Alaina (new)

LOL okay, let's go with bowfin. That N will hopefully line us up nicely for the triple word score

We could do the following:

NERVY, O11-O15 = 36 pts

WYLED, L11-L15 = 32 pts

RYE + RE + YE, H1-J1 = 25 pts

HYDRIC + SH, B9-B14 = 51 pts

same word but in D8-D13 = 41 pts

VIRILE, N10-N15 = 34 pts

message 191: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 81936 comments Mod
I think I'm going to post for HYDRIC for D8-D13 for 41 points. That way we get more letters and don't block the triple word score.

BLECH, A13-E-13 = 24 pts

VETCH, A13-E13 = 26 pts

WHELM, L11-L15 = 32 pts

VITTLE, N10-N15 = 34 pts

message 196: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 4247 comments Mod
I'm not a strategic scrabble player, but if we play Vittle, that opens us up for another triple word score which shouldn't be too hard?

Or is one of the other words better strategically?
