Ceacea (ceacea29) | 1 comments I'm just looking to commiserate a bit here. Have you ever read a book or series where the story and characters are incredible, but the author did their own editing, and it's so bad that you struggle to recommend it to people? You want others to experience the story, but it feels weirdly like a reputation hit. What do you do?

Lilly | 116 comments I just read a series exactly like that. The author had such good ideas with the plot and I couldn't put the book down, but at the same time the writing was atrocious like there was no editing. So I was in a dilemma about my rating, I didn't want to rate it badly because it was fun, but it'd be embarrassing to rate it as a good book due to the writing.

Kristina Kamaeva | 18 comments I think that authors should be informed if their books need editing.
I wouldn't rate it, I'd mark it as "read." And in my review I would talk both about what I liked about the book and what I didn't like :)
