What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I pretty sure I read this in 2022 or 2023. I remember some details of the series, I’m pretty sure the MF has escaped captivity but can’t remember it and was friends with one of her mates Zane I think when they were kids he might have powers with shadows. I remember one scene from the start of the book where she or someone drops books and one of her to be mates picks them up using telekinesis. I think one of her other mates can turn into a dragon. One of her mates might be a professor, I remember a scene in an office where his assistant is coming on to him and the MF doesn’t like it. The villain might be Zane’s father or uncle. I might remember more in a bit, but if someone can help I would appreciate loads.

This sounds a lot like the Bonds That Tie series but not all the details match up. However, I do know that there’s lots of series that are similar or even based off of that series so you could try looking for more books like that. Some questions that could help: How sure are you that those are the names of the MMCs? And do you by chance remember the name of the FMC? What was the setting like (was it very contemporary just with magic thrown in, a total new fantasy world, or something in between?)
