Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments Has anyone read this series? I have seen it has good reviews, but so far, I cannot find much information on what the story is really about. Is it Urban Fantasy? Paranormal Romance? What is the story? Your opinions? Thanks.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Hiya! Definitely Urban Fantasy. I haven't read the newest book yet, but in 1-3, the most that happened on the romance front was one kiss, and one off-page encounter.

It's quirky. The main character comes late into her Shamanism and so she fits the "reluctant, screw-up hero" mold. Since she's half Irish, there's a melding of Native American and Celtic mythology, which is an interesting change-up.

The magical descriptions are a little wonky at times, but the characters are, for the most part, very amusing and likable. Joanne, her boss, and her friends are the main reason I keep reading. They crack me up. Lots of sarcasm and wise-ass remarks.

Murphy could do a little better in developing her villains, but on the whole, I like the series.

Valorie | 426 comments I've read the first two books in the series and really liked the sarcasm! I think the series is definitely worth reading. Not much in the romance department, but a really good read.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 216 comments As the others said, definately UF. There's a smidge of romantic relationships in the third and fourth books, but they're not based on just the romance. I enjoyed the series because it was so different from the traditional UF stuff, the vampires, werewolves, etc.

Starling I think that one of the reasons we all continue to read Urban Fantasy series books is that we like the cast of characters as a whole.

I haven't read this one, but it sounds like it is in the mold.

AlbertaJenn I have had book one on the go for months. It's alright, but I think I have to wait until I'm in the right mood for it.
