I just finished Ruin and Rising, the book I have been reading the last couple of days. 🥳
I am now ready to start reading this one! Are you? If you have some other book to finish first, I could wait for you 😊 Let me know

Me too. I am currently halfway through chapter 8, and so far I like it. I have to admit I have never read Alice in Wonderland and the last time I watched one of the films was 10 years ago...
I had not realized before starting to read what this book was about (silly me not reading the blurb at the back of the book), so I was a bit confused for the first chapters. But now that I am in the Wonderland mindset, I really like it. My inner child loves these types of crazy, unhinged universes. I also love (view spoiler)
Excited to see where this goes! Poor Cath, I hope she doesn't end up having (view spoiler)
**Note to self** Do not read this book when you are hungry, your stomach will be mad at you.

I finished it yesterday and I have to admit I liked it a lot. I should really read Lewis Carroll's book. I think I would have enjoyed this one even more if I did. I love fantasy books with universes that are a bit (or very) silly, and of course Wonderland never disappoints. I think the author did an excellent job at making a background story that ties together all the threads and it is quite impressive considering she wasn't the one who imagined and made this universe to begin with. The author's note and acknowledgements were very sweet.
I have a love-hate relationship with villain background stories. I love them because it is so interesting to witness a good person turning bitter and bad, but at the same time, I find it painful to read as you know that it will have a bad ending since the character will become a villain.
All of this applies for Heartless. It is super satisfying to see the gradual shift in Catherine as she goes from being a sweet, innocent, humble girl to actually having a bit more nerve and being able to stand for what she wants and make decisions for her own life. And of course, the end, where (view spoiler)
It was also sooo bittersweet reading all the moments between Jest and Catherine as I knew they wouldn't end up together and that in the end Catherine would become a bad person. (view spoiler)
How are you doing with your reading? Have you read Alice in Wonderland before? What did you think of the end? Do you think Marissa Meyer did a good job making a believable background story? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts :)
